So when we did in our turkey's, I decided to boil their feet to make some gelatinous turkey stock. I read that you boil them and then peel them. Did it, and noticed that the claws were loose. Fidget, fidget... pull, tug, tip, bend backwards POP. I almost woofed my cookies erry-where. I was -not- expecting that.
So when I noticed blood in the coop the other day, I had a look around, picked up birds, flipped bedding, checked everyone and found Sarge, my main rooster, has had one of his claws peeled. It looks ghastly, but is not infected and he is not limping.
Is this something I should be concerned about? I suspect not, but worthwhile to ask, methinks.
