Hi I will be entering my first real show and was told to bath the birds
in any brand of powdered soap, to rinse with vinegar water and and
rinse a last time with glycerine water. My questionis ... is there a
brand name for the glycerine and what department in a store will I find
it . I was goign to use a dog shampoo for white coats whcih should give
them a nice sheen

Hi
Glycerine is just a product you will find in the pharmacy next to rubbing alcolhol and the like...it can be any brand name.
We used a dog flea/tick shampoo with a few squirts of Dawn dishwashing liquid added to the water to help with penetrating the feathers.

Congrats for entering your first show! How exciting!!
I'm thinking if you go with a powdered soap you'll want to make sure it is very well dissolved in the bath water. I think I would go with the dog shampoo you already have on hand, although the whitening shampoo may not be what you want for all feather colors. For white or light-colored birds it should be great.
I've just finished bathing the last of my birds. This time around I chose a flea/tick shampoo followed by a general dog/puppy shampoo. Then they get a clear water rinse and one more rinse in the vinegar water. I've never bothered with the glycerine.
Everyone seems to have their own bird-bathing preferences. I think Im finally finding what works best for me. Well, at least for now. Smile

I do not have white dogs but the shampoo makes the brown and
black coats sparkle. I also keep flea and tick shampoo on hand so
can use that as well . Thank you for the replies
