I am pleased to see my rhubarb is coming. I brought it from Langley when I moved here two years ago. The first year the ants got in the pot and almost killed it. I treated and planted it and kept my fingers crossed. It is a particularly red and tender plant I am glad it made it.
I am planting six more varieties of heritage potatoes this years, hoping to find a tasty old fashioned potatoe.
On a related topic, I used DE on my rhubarb as ant control and it seemed to work well. I have a real ant problem and I have heard chickens don't eat ants, so I can't expect them to help. I have been wondering if guinea hens eat ants, they may be nice to have free running.
