Most do not appear to have the distinctive lack of connectivity in the feathering that Silkies have.

I was going to agree with you but then I read the link Perry posted. They do show their birds and they do win with them. When you think about it, there are breeds now recognized by the APA/ABA that where started off from scratch.

I for one would like to learn more about sizzles. I think they are very attractive birds, pippa14 and Sultan.

I think it is great that the youth is interested in the poultry They will be around longer than I will
and yes Tara all breed of poultry came from crossing even Chanteclers but in the crossing stage were they sold as such or where they crosses.

Sultan and Pippa keep up the good work and hopefuly you can show them at the up coming shows
Was the white Silkie Pullet you got from us last year in Moosejaw used as a breeder

no, we let our chickens free range here and one day the white silkie went missing Crying or Very sad . A couple days later a stray dog showed up so i think that might of got her. I have a black silkie now that is in a breeding pen with a black frizzle.

For the record, F1 hybrids (whether between species or breeds) are pretty much predictable, reputable and possessed (usually) of hybrid vigour - so are Good Things to buy, as long as the buyer doesn't plan to breed with them.

This goes for cockapoos, labradodles, and sizzles (and many others).

Just remember:

F1 only are sure to be as predicted;
There's no guarantee for the offspring, if you breed them.

I have no problem, with kids having fun. Barn yard birds are great. As long as they are sold as such, at an appropriate price.

I'm not "picking" on the up and comers. Yes several breeds are used to create new breeds. With very careful records kept, keeping track of pedigrees, lines. When you can breed pairs of you creation and it breeds true every time, then perhaps you could have a new breed.
