How to ship Birds Via West Jet?

Hey Everyone,

I am interested in bringing back a few birds from BC, Coopslave has a few roos that us Alberta folks want. I have decided to get them shipped Via Airplane, but have never done this before.

How would a fellow go about doing this?? Any advice from anyone who has some experience with airmailing chickens would be GREAT!

The airlines prefer you to use a pet carrier but you could also build a wooden crate. The flight is so short that you don't need to worry much about food but I throw some layer pellets in the crate on top of the shavings with some apple and catilope for moisture. In my experience the person shipping the birds buys the crate and charges it to the person receiving the birds.

If you phone west jetcargo they give you the crating regulations they require for poultry. There is another thread on here with heathers idea of crates she uses to ship birds. The thread is probably from September.
