Judge Bart Pals is judging at the Red Deer CHB show Dec 9-11th weekend.I have previously met Bart at another show. I thought it would be nice for exhibitors that haven't met Bart to know a little bit about him. These questions were sent to Bart for answers.
1. How long have you been involved with poultry?
Since I was a kid in 4-H.
2. What is your preferred form of bribe?
Money under the left wing (don't fasten too tightly)
3. What is the best thing about judging?
Meeting the people, USUALLY.
4.What breeds would you like to see more of?
Just about all of them anymore.
5.What breed was your first?
Blue Andalusian.
6. What do you do for a living?
I am a coordinator for a weatherization program (we wx homes for the needy). I also own my own insulation company, we employ around 7 people.
7. Briefs,boxers,thong or commando ?
Briefs, usually.
8.Do you have any tips on conditioning/grooming the show bird?
At least do the basics-trim beak-toe nails-should be washed-no lice-no scaley leg-dress up the comb, face, etc.
9.What breed would you suggest for the newbie?
There is nothing prettier then a clean white bird (nothing uglier then a dirty one). That way there is not lacing-barring, special coloring to deal with.
10.Why is Alberta your favorite place to judge?
THE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As you can tell Bart has a great sense of humor and is easy to talk to. There will be plenty of time at the show to talk to Bart about your birds because of it being a 3 day show.
