Holy Sheeezz.....what is going on!

Well, the weather here had been very interesting. Sooooo much snow in the last 36 hours!! I bet we have close to 2 feet. Well, maybe a foot and a half, but it feels like 2 feet because it is only November!
Now it is supposed to get very cold for a few days. I suppose that is the price we pay for clear sunny skies. By Tuesday it is supposed to get warm again and then, you guessed it, MORE snow.
I have to drive to Kelowna everyday for the next month as Mum is here for her radiation. I was bragging that the roads are always good this time of year....ya, right.
Why is winter here so early? I suppose for me it is always to early. Oh well, I hope you all will help me through it.

Yikes, that is a bunch of snow. Just take it easy driving back and forth, it's all the other morons on the road that make winter driving even worse!
We only have 8 inches, but it is -26 right now... wtf!

We have just under an inch, so not bad. The weather is cold though, -20 this morning and yesterday morning, only a high of -18. But by Monday our highs are supposed to get better. I feel for you coopslave, nothing like starting winter with so much snow already...

You certainly do have a lot of snow! Please drive carefully. It looks treacherous. We will all be here for each other this winter. On the other hand I love the photos. Lou

HOLD ON folks its going to be A bumpy ride!!! I'm thinking a really long winter this year. It's -16 here in 150 Mile House I have my fireplace lite as well as my wood stove.

We got over a foot in 24 hours. They were calling for 10-15 cm.... well we got 30 lol Theres 1.5 feet of snow, more in some places where it drifted. less than a week ago we didnt even have half an inch

A lot of us got spoiled by the nice fall weather that we had , but it's winter people ! Living in the mountains will most certainly give you more snow then the rest of us , but just as it comes , in a few months it will go away again

We have very little snow but high winds made it drift BUT very very cold Minus 30 tonight tomorrow minus 18 for a high and plus 5 on Wenesday, not good to go up like that then back to cold. Most of the peafowl have been moved the YELLOW peacock came home yesterday and against the snow looked like a yellow canary only bigger will be taking my camera and take pictures when I move him to heated building for the winter.

That really is hard to take Coopslave. It seems like all at once it's just upon us! And it seems so much colder than it normally is for this time of year - am I right? You all in AB and east seem to be a lot colder than seems normal. I can't complain where I am. I do feel for you who are dealing with so much snow and such cold. Take care and be careful.

It is supposed to be -24 tonight. About a foot of snow on the ground but so cold there is no ice - the snow squeaks under the tires and no slipping around at all. So thankful for small mercies!

Man, -24C, I am so not ready for that yet. We are cold tonight as well. -15C already so who knows what it will go down to. I always feel sorry for the dogs, they are bundled up in straw caves, but I hate being cold so much that I think everthing else does too. I think I will make them a warm slop tomorrow night. I think that is the last real cold we are going to get until later in the week. More snow but not real cold again for a few days.
I feel so sorry for those of you getting close to -30 already. I just hate to think what January is going to bring. Maybe early winter, early spring. Spring has been very slow the last couple of years an early one would be nice for a change.

Yeah. All I keep thinking is "Four more months, we can do it!"

I only know we plan to feed hay until the end of May, just to be safe. I keep counting hay bales and dividing by weeks but in this cold everyone is on full rations .. thank goodness this was a bumper hay year!

I bring the dogs in when it is really cold but after a bit (when the snow between their toes has melted) they get bored and overheated and beg to go outside again - but they have good hair coats and beds protected from the wind.

This is supposed to be the worst of it for a while - plus 2 is Monday's forecasted high - it will seem tropical by then! But the roads will be worse as a result.

I would love to have the dogs in, but only the old fellow gets the privilige and that is only in the back mud room. We have 8 working dogs and I can assure you they wouldn't know the socially acceptable way to act indoors. They are just good, old country boys (and girls). My female is actually lovely inside and she does come in sometimes with me, but hubby hates them in the house for to long and like Heda says I think it can actually be a bit hard on them.

Bundle up everyone, I think the ride is going to be a long, bumpy, cold one.

I agree, better to be out as much as possible to make sure they have the coat to manage it. I just feel sorry for my two, although my Anatolian Shepherd Hector is tall enough to innocently run his nose along the counter top, just in case....

I feel ready for winter, just always amazed at how few daylight hours there are and how much there is to do in those few hours. My day is like this: Dark. Morning chores. Lunch (unless morning chores go overtime). Evening chores. Dark.

We had brilliant sunshine this afternoon though - after days of heavy low cloud to have a cloudless blue sky and blinding sunshine (at -10C) was nothing short of bliss.

We have already hit -30. Our highs have been in the -20s. I am wondering even more about this country... and why I moved here LOL. I seriously am having issues with this cold!

Really not cold here, although the wind has made it feel cold and the humidity has been very high. The digital thermometer says -5.2. The alcohol thermmeter says -8. We are far from ready for winter as the new coop is not ready. With building a new house here we have not had time to put away a supply of fire wood. It may be a winter of cutting from the woodlot and using almost immediately. We have lots of down pine from beetle kill, and some fir and birch from fence building. The birch is the hottest even slightly wet.

-14 right now , but they are calling for temps to go to the mid teens next week ? Seems the west isn't the place to be come winter these days ? Very strange that the trend seems to be changeing that we are warmer then you folks ? I did hear that this is to be a extremely cold winter right across Canada ! ever so glad that I spent the extra time to get more wood then I should need , just in case might be worth it this year ?

What - like mid teens PLUS? Where do you live? The tropics?

But actually we sometimes get that here especially in January - wind swings around in a matter of an hour and we get the strong "Pineapple Express" that is like a Chinook (but wetter, from the ocean) and everything melts. The problem is though it never lasts long and then the whole valley is an ice rink. Chains and cleats on everything that matters...

"Only" -10C here, today's forecast high. Sky is is white as the fields.

On the prairies , it's strange that we are having these mild swings , last year we had more milder days then Alberta ?
