Just heard one howling from in my room in the basement. So I grabbed the twelve guage and poked my head out the door. Can't see anything of course cause it's dark out but it sounded like right in the front yard. Not cool. So I cracked off a round and that shut him up but how long will it keep him gone when there's chickens in the yard? Not long I think. The deer population is low here this year, partly because of a high coyote population. That means alot of hungry coyotes. Looks like I could sure use a LGD about now.

They are nuts these days ! I've shoot two so far and they were on the field beside the house , On ein broad daylite and it was just sitting there howling ? .Even with a guard dog they can slip into your yard at night , best get a good light and give em when they're close .

I wish they'd come by daylight, maybe they will yet and I'll get a chance.
Thankfully the henhouse is right next to the yardlight so hopefully that's some deterrent.
