I was trying to take some new pictures of the pups last night and I lost the light to quick. The coyotes down in the valley started yipping and the bulldogs were ON! They hate those pesky things.

I let them go for a bit and then just said that's enough. The female puffed her lips a bit a couple of times but the male switches OFF just like that.

Just thought I would share these pictures, caus the pup ones were a total loss! Rolling Eyes

Good dogs! I was amazed once when my dog cornered a coyote. He must have barked for 10 minutes till I could get there. When he saw me, he attacked the coyote and had it by the neck. I called him off because the thing was so mangy I was worried he would get it- well he listened in an instant- I was shocked! Needless to say we stopped by the vet's later for an updated rabies shot (even though he wasn't due yet) and some mange meds! I'd never had a LGD before and it always amazes me how smart and tuned in to their owners that they are! Oh- and the coyotes were close here last night too- was glad everyone was locked up!

Good pics!! I was woke up last night to my 14 week old pyrenese/st bernard cross "knocking" on my door and window last night. He was whimpering and growling like crazy but just trembling. When I went out side I heard a coyote yipping at him and my cavalier trying to coax them away from the house. Good thing I live a long ways out in the country with awesome neighbors as I brought out the rifle and fired a shot into a tree and just a few seconds after I fired my shot my neighbor also fired a shot. I checked out my bird count this morning and found 2 of my 3 chocolate muscovies missing. The third somehow made it into the pen with the blue swedish and older muscovy duck. I also found 3 bantam cochin chicks laying dead in my yard, so I am assuming it was a momma and some pups she is teaching to hunt. We are now on guard for coyotes even more!!

Oh Coopslave, you have some very beautiful looking dogs there, something about those types of breeds I love, I also am in love with pittbulls too (American Staffordshire terriers, think they are called) too, my Daughter has two of them, and boy are they nice dogs, excellent guard dogs and great family pets, love them. I like the stockiness of your dogs, and I really like white in critters, cool that they turn off and on as you said, excellent. Smokeyriver, very sorry to hear of your losses. You could have lost your dogs as well, so that was a lucky thing they came to you for help, I don't like coyotes and have no use for them. Had them big time in our old life, they scared and creeped me out with their screams and whistles in the nighttime. We lived with lots of trees and a ravine that ran deep through one side side of our property, that and the bears loved that ravine, ooh the sounds that came out of there in their travels. Still creeps me out. We hear the coyotes here at night, but they don't seem to come too close. And their screams and yips seem to sound different than the ones on the coast do, weird, but seems so. Have a great day, CynthiaM.
