Here's a poem I wrote about my little rooster...

Rotten Ronnie the Rooster

There once was a rooster, cute and small.
He ruled the roost, he ruled them all.
He was small, and he was neat.
He was so fast upon his feet.

Feathers so silkie, soft and red
He had a poof upon his head.
Eyes of brown, smart and bright
He kept them peeled to start a fight

He would strut and he would walk.
Quite the character, this little cock.
He was small, but he didn't know.
He would keep them all in tow.

All other roosters would run and flee.
When Rotten Ronnie, they did see.
The Fonze would run and he would hide.
In a small nest box, he would abide.

When Rotten Ronnie was about,
even the hens would scream and shout.
Ronnie, Ronnie so proud and cool.
Had the mo-jo to make old men drool.

From hen to hen he would run,
Getting some action was his fun.
Question of fertility was never in doubt,
When Rotten Ronnie was lurking about.

Turkeys, Dachshunds, he's come on the fly
Who would believe it from such a small guy?
All the big roosters, would quiver with fear,
From around the corner, Ronnie would appear.

Finally the day came, I could take it no more.
Rotten Ronnie had to go, a new home in store.
Maybe a new flock would make him behave.
Maybe the one chance his soul to save.

So warnings and returns I did arrange.
But I had high hopes his attitude would change.
But change it did not, I was saddened to hear.
Ronnie really IS rotten, the message appeared.

Ronnie wouldn't leave ANYTHING alone.
He had to come back to his old home.
Into a diaper box to home he did ride.
Where something that stinks should abide.

Poor Rotten Ronnie, stuck in a pen.
Without any love, or even a hen.
I think his intentions were to do all right
But all that he did was look for a fight.

All that running has made him a waste.
Probably tough as a boot he would taste.
And now I sit, and ponder what to do?
Should I change Rotten Ronnie into stew?

And here is the fellow himself. I took the picture this morning, and he his molting. He's not looking like the handsome fellow I decided to keep. He was chasing the cat this morning... lol

Yes, I could just picture him, all roasted up with those little legs sticking up in the air, skin all blackened.... poor little guy... not even very appetizing to think about.

LOL! Well, yesterday morning, he had all the roosters in the pot pen, all hiding the entire morning. So I felt bad for them and let Ronnie out with the main flock free ranging, because I thought that way they can just keep their distance. First thing he did was pick a fight with my new Ameracauna rooster. Well, the Ameracauna wasn't backing down, and I let them scrap it out for a bit, so they could pick an order. A little while later, I went to check and Ronnie was Waaaaaay across the yard, off all by himself. The entire day, he stayed away from the flock. He spent the night in the pot pen, only because I put him there. And this morning I let him out with the main flock, and I see once again he is as far from the flock as he can get. I checked the roos and there is no injuries. I suspect that Rotten Ronnie has finally for the first time in his life, met his match, and his ego is bruised. He looks lonely and unloved.

I actually feel sorry for him. Poor little devil.

Wow, so you can bring recipes, you can take pictures and now I read that you can make a poem, a woman of many talents, smiling. I loved the poem by the way. Poor rotten Ronnie, he finally has someone that won't take any of his crap, but yes, it does make ya feel kind of sorry for him. I think I would end his life if it were me though Shocked , think I would begin to worry about injury and the kids. does he ever go after the human being? Have a wonderful day, CynthiaM.

Actually, he's great with people. He kind of just sort of keeps out of the way. But is calm if you catch him.

Yesterday, he was off on his own all day. Come evening when I went to shut everyone in, he was roosting on a bucket outside of the coop, by his lonesome. I had to pack him in. My husband wants to eat him, because he doesn't like roosters much and wants me to get rid of some anyways.

Poor Ronnie. There's a sad rooster if I ever seen one. He spent his day today, sulking under a tree mostly. Except for the little while he came to hang out with my husband and I while we were skinning a moose. Maybe we will keep him after all if he settles down.
