It was brought to my attention that there are some ads running at the top of the pages that are lets say not so nice to look at, so the only way we can remove these ads is by purchasing credits from the forum site and removing them that way. So I have enabled the contribution button now that you can dontate any amount you wish to the site and once we have reached enough (Takes about $15 to remove them for 1 year) I will submit the credits for removal.
Please do not feel you need to contribute, only if you want to. This is a free site, and we are just trying to make it the best we can.

I would be hard pressed to pay to have ads removed when there are other forum host sites out there that are also free, yet don't charge to get rid of ads.
It would make much more sense to create a new forum of such design, while this one is still in its infancy.
Just my two cents.

The ads don`t bother me at all. I didn`t even really notice them until they were mentioned.
Sometimes you can choose what kind of ads are represented, if that is a choice it may be a good one! Very Happy

Being happily married I am not really interested that Jeremy25 is a down to earth guy with a sense of adventure! Rolling Eyes His photo is a tad scary too! Laughing

Actually this is the second format for this particular forum, isn't it?

I ignore the ads and enjoy the content.

Fortunately, they don't show up on my phone, which I access this site the most with, so they have never bothered me either.

The way I see it is (especially being new to poultry) for all the help and advice I receive for free here, if a few bucks from me helps make the site a more enjoyable place... its totally worth it. A thank you for all the hard work that goes into making it such a great place to come and hang out. cheers

$5 sent via Paypal. . . I'm still getting creepy ads. I try to ignore them, and know I should be able to, but there we are.

I'll tolerate the creepiness that I don't see, and send $5 to the burn victims fund, or some other charitable organization, not company hosting free forums.
But thank you for the removal of the ads.

You are totally right there Hillbilly, I don't think that us as forum members should have to pay to get ads removed, but that is also how they make these forums pay and able to be free for us all, so well worth the few dollars a few of us spent to have those ads removed.

Every person in life decides what is worth it to themselves to throw their money at. I would certainly spend mine, to help those in need, and look at a few ads instead.
There are also forum host sites that give administrators the option of having ads or not without charging to have them removed.

I am happy to make a site, that I frequent and get tons of enjoyment and information from on a daily basis, a little better by contributing $1! Not that I want to pay for this site but if push came to shove for what I get out of it is worth it to me to make contributions like this. That is the great thing about choice.

Are those that saw the creepy guy ads on facebook with single status? They will know your demographics and sell to you based on that. It'll be a cookies thing when they keep track of what you look at. The Google adsense ads will be unique to you, eg if you google 'caribbean vacations', miraculously the ads you see for the next while will be discount vacations etc...try it, or of you are looking for camping gear or riding boots ro whatever...

I just paid for one year yesterday! Money well spent. I am on the Poultry Swap Ontario and we did the same on there. The hosters of the site get an income from each site either from the ads or we replace that income with our donation. They have to rent hosting space, deal with glitches and programming stuff we don't even see, as well as dealing with queries form administrators.

Yes, I'm on Facebook, but no, my status is married. The creepy ads were from a dating site called "Zoosk". I can't imagine why they'd be targetting me with those young guys.

It is a bit un-nerving, the amount of info about each of us that's out there.

Handled very well...

My Fishing forum uses the same host and I run the same format.
I had adds removed off my site as well, but they are back as I have not yet removed them.
I forgot my password and Can't log in... I have a ton of credits I could donate... if I can only get back into my Admin account... oops... My bad.

As do I. Smile Honestly, I was more amused by the ad than anything. Classic example of my humor not translating over well, haha. geek

Well, I do agree in theory we shouldn’t have to pay for a forum, but space on the net isn’t exactly free anymore (if it ever was?) hence the ads galore.
Anyway, a single dollar has many uses and making WCPS ad-free and therefore more enjoyable for some of our members seems like a positive one to me. So a big thank you to the Admin’s for looking for ways to improve this site and actually DOING it, and to everyone who contributed to make it our happy place. Kudos! cheers

SLF: I’m also listed as married on my FB account, though I havn’t logged into it in over a year, maybe more. The whole facebook thing just wasn’t my cup of tea.
