Thought I'd share this, since I work closely with the program in my line of work.

This is an activation of the AMBER ALERT system at the request of Maple Creek RCMP

The victim is Katelyn Mosquito, 14 years old from the Maple Creek area. She is an Aboriginal female, 5'3" tall, 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen on the evening of January 9th. She is believed to be wearing an orange hoodie with “Maple Creek Composite High” and pajama-type pants. Katelyn is approximately eight (Cool months pregnant.

Police believe the child was taken by: Jonathan Hansen also from the Maple Creek area. He is a Caucasian male, 16 years of age about 5’11” tall, 150 pounds with light brown hair and blue/gray eyes. He has body modification of both ears.

The suspect may be driving a green 1995 Ford Escort with Saskatchewan plate 637 HEE.

The suspect may be travelling west-bound into Alberta.

I heard this in the morning as I drove to work and I thought, tiny 8 month pregnant girl in an orange hoodie, male with multiple piercings, old green car....yeah they should blend right in!

Hope she is found soon and safe!

Hope she is found soon as well.
Heard she was taken forcefully from her home, but not sure if it was by the boyfriend in mention or not?

Sad enough to have a 14 year old missing but even worse when she is such a young pregnant girl... And the roads are only going to get worse as the day goes on.

That's the biggest concern from the police is that she'll go into labour with the stress and give birth in these cold temperatures/they'll end up lost and burried in a ditch.

Oh I hope everything works out for the better.
This is the second amber alert I've heard! There was a mom down in south Lousiana(SP) the snatched her kids and was apparently extremely hostile/dangerous.

Keep us posted Sweetened.

Ok why is major crimes involved?
Did something bad happen that they aren't telling us?
Or is just the way the systems works? I personally don't have any idea it works.

It was technically a home invasion. Ex-boyfriend and another dude showed up, armed, in ski masks and demanded she get a change of clothes and go with them. Thus it's also an abduction and can be viewed as a hostage situation -- she had broken up with him only days before from the urging of her family as he was apperently verbally abusive and controlling.

He's known to police.

To clarify: I work for a digital billboard management company, and we are the primary Saskatchewan contact for amber alert ad creation and distribution. I know about the alert before it even hits radios.

That is absolutely horrible to be happening in our home town...I hope they find her soon. I am guessing they are hiding out somewhere, maybe with the other person? Hopefully they find some leads and get her back before anything bad happens to her.

Latest update:
APLE CREEK, Sask. - The mother of a teenage boy who Saskatchewan RCMP allege abducted his pregnant girlfriend says it's all a misunderstanding.

Caralee Hansen says her son, 16-year-old Jonathan Hansen, and 14-year-old Katelyn Mosquito are safe.

She won't reveal where they are.

She says the pair, both from Maple Creek, soon plan to explain their side of the story to RCMP.

An Amber Alert for Mosquito remains in place.

Mounties say they won't comment on the development.

I'm sorry , but it pretty hard to take this as a misunderstanding. Do they realise how much damage has been done? Its an amber alert, its an alleged kidnapping, their teenagers. Where in the H@LL is his mother and how can she even justify this act, or behavior. The fact that she is allowing this to happen is disgusting in my mind.

I would suggest that the police are so serious about this because she is not an adult and is under the guardianship of her mother. At 14 this child is a probably grade 9 student.

Well you hit the "key" word SS, that being child.

A person can only hope that at least one set of parents is going to be responsible.

She was actually living with her sister, from what I understand.

Sorry- what I meant was she is a minor and with a male who is not her guardian. If this 16 year old is the father there maybe some statutory rape issues. (Again sorry if this is not the legal term.) Please correct me if the 16 year old is not considered an adult in Saskatchewan for this kind of legal issue.

So many things to be upset about here. I'll pick one. What chance does this baby have?

Having worked on the edges of custody/abuse cases I can see the question is going to be, what family member has any clue how to look after a baby?

Oh my, that article sends up all my red flags.

Here is an interesting bit of trivia:

If a pregnant woman is murdered, statistics show that the murderer is usually the father of the baby, 90% of the time.

Here's another one, if a child is murdered and a step parent exists, 99% of the time it is the step parent.
