I read that there were 500 pigeons there, but I have not heard about how many chickens were entered.

Would love to know how many chickens were entered in the show.

it looked as if not as many as last year i only counted 7 LF cochins? unless more were hiding lol

Hey everyone,

480 peigeons were entered this year, and we still have to get a final count but there were more poultry this year then last year. Somewhere around the 700 mark. But Rico did mention it was up from last year.

Interesting.
I would love to know who all entered chickens, how many they brought etc.

I don't have the full results, but I'm sure they will be posted soon. The hard-working clean-up crew were still finishing up some last loading up etc when I made my get-away.
Steven Vincent did AWESOME with Champion Guinea, Best Heavy duck (Balck Muscovy) AND Best Mediterranian with a Sicilian Buttercup!

Best American was a White Chantecler pullet shown by Adolf Heier.

Allan Lakusta had Best Light Duck.

Champ of the English Class was a White Orpington hen - Adolf Heier.
Champion Asiatic was a Light Brahma Hen - CR Ducks.
Champion waterfowl...(I think) was a Bantam East Indie Duck - Terry & Shauna Willoughby.
Best RCCL - Belgian Bearded D'Anvers - Silver Ridge Aviaries
Best OEG Bantam - CR Ducks.

There were some beautiful birds at the show this year. Some very, very nice quality chickens. I think I heard somewhere around the number of 685 mentioned?? Had a great time and can't wait to do it all again next year!!

It was a fun time for us too! Beautiful birds and lots of interesting chats with lots of new people...

It was a very well run show. The amount of work it took to organize, make happen and clean up was tremendous i could see. Lots of details thought of like clips for the cage cards, food dishes in the cages for many of the birds, ribbons for all the best of variety winners and higher, the urban chicken and heritage breeds (longhorns, piggies, sheep) displays, Chicken John's petting zoo, the banquet and awards. A lot of effort and thought went into all aspects. Great job and thank you.

Congratulations to everyone who showed birds. I know I had a fun time with my own birds and learned alot as always. And i enjoyed seeing others beautifully birds and just chatting with other enthusiasts equally as much.

I know I saw Steve and some others taking pictures so I'm sure after a little rest there will be some pictures to share.

We couldn't have done it without the help of awesome volunteers like you and your husband and many others poplar girl!

I really enjoyed my visit to the show, I learned so much!

Thank you to everyone who was so friendly and helpful, answering my bajillion questions! Kyle, Liz, James, Country Thyme - and of course Duane for introducing me, even if it is his fault I'm now chicken addicted!

Good Show a bit long with Thursday thrown in but had a good time.
I should also add from a judge's point of view how much the quality is improving in some breeds, congratulations to the many who put in the effort and showed some good quality birds that were clean and well conditioned, you should be proud of your efforts as I am proud of all of you for working hard to bring up the quality of your birds. I will not name names but there were several breeds if I were so inclined to have that breed that I would have taken them home. Keep up the good work.

See you in february in wetaskiwin, hm too early maybe and probably bad roads. Its a good show though. Also when you are done school and go into higher education or work, you will have less time to do anything..

ill keep it in mind! ya i hope to get my bach so ill still be in school:(
come to one of our shows and you can see them! vernon pigion and poultry is having a spring show that i hope to head up to.

Might have to, definitly need to go to more shows. I always do a bc trip in the spring anyway, will see

Sue, yes Poultry in HD is Heather Hayes and Drew Mazur,
Drew is just coming up 13 yrs old and already is very successful with his other poultry. I have been mentoring him for quite sometime, he is my little buddy who has the most incredible eye for good birds and he is truly the "future of the fancy". He wanted to breed and exhibit something together and we both always liked Bantam Cornish so our little partnership was born. I love working with him and for me who have no kids it's a chance to pass on what I have learned.

We are specializing in Bantam Dark Laced Cornish only.

I was just thinking back on the Provincial show in November and wondering if the full show results were ever published anywhere? Will this be available on the CHB website? Thanks!
