I just got a call tonight. My nieces and nephews mother just passed away on Tuesday and their bishop called to ask me to speak at the funeral the day after tomorrow. I don't like speaking in front of large groups of people but I am sure that the children of the deceased requested my participation. I am looking forward to the end of the service. My first knowledge of her passing was the moment that he asked me to speak.

Sorry to hear, Dan.

If nothing else, be there for the children. They will likely be comforted with your presence there if they have requested you be there.

Nothing makes it easy, I'm sorry.

That is going to be tough speaking request. You are very well spoken, you will do a good job and it will go quicker than you think.

Sorry to hear of your loss Dan.
I know it is so different speaking one to one than to a crowd but try to remember you are still speaking to just one person, just lots of them at the same time....

Really sorry for your loss Dan.
Write down what you want to say, and remember the comfort you're providing to your family who requested your presence.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss Dan. Be comforted in the knowledge that your nieces and nephews know that you will be able to speak on behalf of them when because of their grief they may not be able to. Take Care Lou
