We had a busy night tonight, must have been the full moon.
Ginger had a nice sized set of twins, one boy and one girl. Started at 11:45 pm and ended at 12:20 am.
Then I noticed Wilma lying strange and out comes baby one at 12:20 am, I got a stall emptied out and cleaned, moved Willow to a different dry stall with no heat, and then moved Wilma in. By 1:30 am she had all three out. 2 girls and a boy. They are a bit smaller but still all looking good. Waited around till I saw all babies have a drink then come to the house.
Now off to bed...

Everyone is doing well this am. Got 4 hours of quality sleep then up to milk cows and get kids ready for school. Definately a nap needed today. Sleep

Oh boy, what a night. So nice to hear these things. But reminds me why I have never really wanted to raise any babies other than my own and chickens'. That is some devotion to spend that much time with birth assistance, good for you!! Have a great nap and a most wonderful day, CynthiaM.

Why is it that all animals seem to never have their young ones in the middle of the day. Every litter of dogs I have ever had always had them through the night so I would not go to bed at all. I think that they do it just to prove a point .

Yes that was Ginger, she was in labor for quite some time before she decided to get them out.
They were big lambs too, 10.5lbs each!

I think they feel safer at night, I think it is an instinctive thing.
I know people maintain that they can control when their cows calve based on when they feed them, they feed them late at night and that makes them calve then next day in the daylight?
Not sure how that works though...
