I am hatching or trying to, my hatch rates are terrible but I was wondering do quail eggs hatch in 16 or 23 days?

16 to 18 depending on the temp. I get better hatches at 100.6 as well. More uniform and faster hatchs.

What species are you trying to hatch? Buttons are 18 days, my california's are 22-23, as I beleive coturnix and bobwhites are as well.

Bobwhites are 23, but the coturnix is only 16-18.

All of my coturnix have pipped at day 16 and most have hatched by the end of day 17. I give the stragglers a bit of extra time, but rarely do the late ones survive. I have hatched about 12 or so different clutches this year.

I would also like to try some Valley Quail but they seem to be really hard to find. Lou

Just to let everybody know my quail are hatching on day 17. OMG I went in there to check the temp as I do a hundred times every day and there they were.!!!!!! 3 little doodle bugs. I am soooo very very excited. Doing the happy dance right now, so excuse me !!!! Lou
