please let me know how it goes, I love the metal recycling place near Black Mountain in Kelowna, they have so many cool things there that could be turned in to so many other cool things. I just don't know how to weld but if I did (might have to learn) then it would be my second home! If you get your guy to make one, put a picture up? fingers crossed for you  Smile

I have 3 fabulous nephews.  One is a welder, one is working towards Engineering, and the other can chop wood like nobody's business.  I sent this to them.  I think they could improve it (the Engineer), manufacture it, and then demo and sell it and make a living.  I hope so, because they don't know it, but I'm counting on them to take care of ME in my old age.  Wink  Thanks for sharing this.

gosh, you are welcome! if they do get in to it, and improve it, I might buy one depending on cost and of course, team mate agrees.

I would love to weld! The thought of being able to shape and join metal has always fascinated me!

I wonder how heavy that head is? The spring countering it is huge! What a great way to chop though. He makes it look so easy.
Welding would be wonderful to learn. Perhaps when we retire....

I remember reading an article where a guy had made a hydraulic splitter for his tractor. Took him a couple of tries but it could do something like 8 pieces at once. I remember he said the secret was that each blade had to be offset to contact the wood at a different time. Too much resistance when they all hit the wood at once.
