I have my group of Marans, noticed last week that one of them had some white bubbles in her eye, then noticed others looked like they had swollen sinuses....
I treated with Tetracyclin, and have them separated cause i am disposing of their beautiful eggs.
They had a course of 5 days Tetracyclin, and i noticed the one still has white bubbles in her eyes. The swollen sinuses seem better, but still perhaps a little puffy around the eyes.
What do i do now?
What organism might i be looking at;....or disease...
Thanks for any help

With only those two symptoms, I would treat for Mycoplasma. My two go-to drugs for all CRDs are Denegard and Tylan. They are expensive but worth it and can sometimes only be found at a vet's. Maybe someone near you has some...

I don't remember offhand. I have that info attached to the meds I use. There is either no withdrawl or one day...according to the testing done in the UK. Here in Canada the use of these meds on different species as well as withdrawl may be different. Not because the drug is different but because the testing is different in the different countries.

No one around here stocks denagard...might have to get it online somewhere
i have some tylan though, and will start treating with that today. i have heard 7 day withdrawal for tylan, and 5 days for tetracyclin.
Am unsure about the dosing for Tylan though...if someone can help...

2 grams per 4 litres of water.
1/2 a teaspoon = 2 grams.
Put the Tylan in your mixing container first, then add water.

Even though it is treating a symptom, an antibiotic eye ointment or drops such as polysporin will help.

I was wondering what veterinary clinic you use? Was the subscription for your chickens or pigs? What do they charge for that size bottle?
Thanks for your time.  Very Happy

I work at a clinic and I am thankfully allowed to order what ever I need. Its labeled for pigs only in canada but if you go to the uk website it has the directions for poultry.

I get all medications at cost. I wanna say it was around $100 cost. Cant quite remember though sorry.

I also have a large stash of amprol that I split with echo. It apparently lasts forever.

Gosh, i missed this post too...Thank you so kindly for the offer.
The treatment with Tylan worked quite well, and they are all chicken now. scooping their food and throwing it all over the house. Can't put them back out until it has warmed up a little more.

Good to know you have Denagard...that is good. We should maybe have a section called "Pharmacy" where people can post what they need for drugs...perhaps highly illegal
Again..thanks fuzzy..and farmchiq for the drive

I like the Pharmacy section idea but like you say it would be frowned on.
