So yesterday I was late getting out to the barn
about 10:30 it was cold -19.
And all my goats were still asleep in there tents,
I had to wake them some didn't come out until
most of the hay feeders were full.
Several years ago I noticed when it is real cold
the animals will stay down until mid morning or
later. I came to the realization that they stay
warmer when down so I now do not go feed
until I see them up and about.

Mine have been out most days before 7am having breakfast but if it's rainy they don't even peek their noses out of the barn LOL  The sissys Smile

My goats, Herschel excluded (the Nubian), will stand in the rain and lick their beards rather than get water from a bucket or, you know, stay in a sheltered area. Shelter's are for LOSERS, said no goat ever, except some of mine.

The pigs don't get out of bed until breakfast is served. Even then if it is cold they may prefer to stay in bed. Even though the geese and dogs come up and eat out of their trough.

Goats figure all rain is ACID! Razz

"It burns..."

Tara
Yep, acid from the sky! Ours run like hell to the shelter or their houses when the rain starts.
