Thank you, Piet for posting this.  I was just going to come on here this morning and post some pictures from the big event.   It was such an amazing 2 days, I'm still in a bit of a daze.  Attending the Royal Winter Fair has been a dream for some time, and it all came together for me this year.  The big win was a bit overwhelming, but such a great honor.

I also took in the National Show in Columbus Ohio following the Royal.  The sheer volume of birds there was spectacular.  As I walked up and down each aisle I thought of all my friends here on the forum and the breeds they choose to raise.  I took over 100 pictures as I wanted to share with all of you!  Ive got pics of White Polish for Toy Barons, Dominiques for Miry Creek,  Dark Cornish for Sue, speckled Sussex for KRL, Blue Cochins for Cynthia (and me!!) haha..plus lots more.  so I can share those with photobucket if anyone's interested.
I'll start with a few from the Royal and the proud and handsome Grand Champion.

Great pictures, Kathy! Glad you brought home a little something for all of us!

Hoe many birds did you take? Did you fly or drive?

Oh my goodness, very prestigious, what an adventure.  To see all those birds in there is amazing.  Thanks for putting the pictures up.  I will have to revisit. And, adding my congratulations on your win - forgot to say that earlier.

Good job Kathy a win to be proud of. I have been following with interest your progess with your birds and it is clear to me your are indeed a worthy breeder dedicated to improving your breed to the highest degree. Hope you enjoyed your visit to the Ohio show. Did you show anything there?

Thank you again everyone for all the cheers and kind words!
It was a fantastic trip and everything went as planned. We flew into Toronto just in time for the poultry show. The chickens travel just fine in dog kennels and Wesjet is very good with their pet policies - you can have 2 kennels per person and 2 birds per kennel. So my 4 Orpingtons went in 2 fairly large kennels. Its important to make sure to book them in ahead as each flight only has a limited space for animals, so I did that at the same time as I booked our own flight. There were some interesting comments from passengers in the airport and airport staff though. They see the pet kennels and come over to have a look, assuming it's a dog, but do they ever jump back when they suddenly realize it's a very large chicken! Shocked
I also visited with some good friends in the area, and left my birds at their place after the show. Then we all drove together down to the big National show in Ohio for the weekend. I wasn't interested in jumping through all the hoops to take birds across the border to show down there. I was just happy to have entries in the Royal and then go as a spectator to Columbus.
We left Sunday morning for the 5 hour drive back up to Ontario, picked up the chickens and flew back home. All in all, a most wonderful and memorable trip to the east!
Now to get back out to the garage and continue bathing chickens for Red Deer...Rolling Eyes
