Yesterday I finally had a nice day with nowhere to go and no work, so I got busy making more little chicken houses. Should have been simple, but nope. Complicated little beasts with ridge plates and madness in the design.

I decided to take a "break" at 3 and go lay tracking tracks for my two Germans shepherds, as they are entered in both TDX (field tracks on mostly grass to 1200 yards) and UTD (busy urban locations that include parking lots and buildings with lots of people crossing tracks) next month, so figured I better get some tracks done. I had been frustrated this month as I couldn't get the trial dates off work in October, and have the girls ready for both trials. Thought I'd be back at 6.

Laid the tracks, got back to the houses. Hit some design challenges, and I wasn't done till past 8. And I pondered about my tracks, as they were much older than I intended. I decided to attempt the tracks, as I didn't want to lose my articles and thought it would be interesting. So short line and head lamp, night tracking we went. The tracks were both about 800-900 yards...one was at the new fire hall and the other at the new medical clinic facility.

Both girls were awesome on thier tracks, found every article and corrected me more than once when I thought the track went a different way. Things look different at night, but they smell the same. I usually make good maps, but this was supposed to be a short aged track, and ended up being longer than my memory allowed. Smile. More than once thought we were sidetracked and walla - an article. Good girls.

After that excitement i got home, moved chickies to the new house, got my tools all cleaned up...and back to work now for 5 am shifts.

Chickies are happy, dogs are happy and I'm pretty happy too!
