Tara......They are on my "Bucket List"

Loved the 3 I had. When we eventually move, I'm having a big well fenced and covered large pond again. For my "Bucket List" Waterfowl, Smile

Perhaps they can be served, stuffed with peacock tongues.

Honestly, Tara, every time I open Poultry Swap, I have to snicker. My mom uses the term 'ruddy' as a swear synonymous with 'damn'. So, when I read 'Ruddy Shelducks' a little voice in my head always says, 'Damned Shelducks'. I doubt it is a phrase that comes to your lips often....

Funny Sue, my mom used to say ruddy too!

Was your mom born in the Ottawa Valley, Coopie?

Tara, in case you think I hate your ducks, I don't. They are most beautiful!

Nope, born in BC. She was from a very poor family but had a mother with a few issues that had 'airs'. Didn't raise any of her own kids and farmed them out all over.
Not sure where she got ruddy from.

I think they are beautiful ducks too, not talking to you any more Tara. Just so you know.....

What amazing, beautiful birds! Tara, tell us what you know about them. Are they egg layers? Meat birds? Eye candy? Are they rare or endangered or just exotic? They are stunning.

And for those of you who want to keep up with Tara; I have 1 pair left to sell! Or maybe Tara needs another pair... After all - they were all friends before Sunday.

Those are gorgeous looking.
Will have to show hubby when he gets
home from camp this weekend.
May incourage him to build my
specialty pen.

Oh man, oh man, oh man. Why do you do these things Tara, those are so beautiful, and those little fuzzy two tone babies, oh man, oh man, oh man. Ruddy Shelducks, is that some slang or something? I just don't get it. You said you now have unrelated males. I wonder why I just don't get things some times. I thought that these, because of the name of the thread, were different, now you are breeding them. I would suppose that they are the same as the other Mandarin ducks you have....are they? Please don't keep this girl in the dark, cause I don't like it. Oh gosh, those are such things of beauty. Poor Rick, now he's going to spend all winter making the most beautiful design for a new duck house, I can't wait to see what he comes up with, I think it will be a thing of beauty. And your Sister-in-Law, her and her pictures, what on earth is she going to do, drooling all winter long, or maybe she will take wintertime pictures. I will never forget seeing how these ducks raise their babies, so far off the ground. This is glory days, I love to see these things, and thank you so much girl for sharing! Have a most beautiful day, CynthiaM.

Tara, I truly FTD, but even more I fear the ravens that eat the ducks. I think that I shall stick to geese. Especially the fearful varieties!
