Take the test and find the top 8 breeds for you.

I like this one because it is the only questionnaire that suggests a Schipperke for me.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

My top 8 are:

Bedlington terrier
Long coat Chihuahua
Tibetan Spaniel
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Schipperke
American Eskimo
Bichon Frise
Cardigan Welsh Corgi

American Staffordshire Terrier
Bull Terrier White
Caanan Dog
Anatolian Shepherd Dog
Alaskan Malamute
Akita
Boxer
Chesapeake Bay Retriever

Interesting I already have one Anatolian. But I fantasize about having 4 or 5!

The Australian Shepherd will have his nose put out of joint. All the work he does with me and he doesn't make my list!!

But if I change answer to two questions - that I want a medium dog (rather than not caring) and if I am willing to groom a dog once a week (instead of never) - THEN the Australian Shepherd pops up.

My Australian Shepherd hates being groomed, BTW, he thinks it is for sissies, not for working dogs.

I found out that a chihuahua is a large dog. Perhaps I should have said I would spend a little more on dog food. I tend to like long haired dogs but the questionaire expects grooming to go along with that and I'm still recovering from grooming show Shelties nightly. I changed a few answers and came up with a standard poodle, a breed that figured in the breakup of my first marriage. Interesting exercise but I think I'll use a different method to choose a breed in the future.

A few more focused questions might have lead to more revealing answers!

I may have to make up my own questionnaire!

Old english sheepdog (I've always liked them but never met one yet and finding a breeder was impossible)
Great Pyrenees
Kuvasz
St Bernard
Giant schnauzer (nah)
Mastiff (nope)
Newfoundland (got one and love the big bimbo she definitely suits our lifestyle)
Otter hound (never heard of them)

If I change one question to large not giant breeds I get a lot of shepards and we have one of those too Smile  Wish you could choose more than 1 size because I like my dogs to be bigger than my cats Embarassed but not necessary to be big enough to saddle Embarassed

Black Russian Terrier
German Wirehaired Pointer
Irish Terrier
Affenpinscher
Airedale
Australian Terrier
Brussel's Griffon

I have had a standard poodle, two Bearded Collies , now a deranged Golden Doodle and many much loved mutts. Having had Beardies I am no stranger to grooming. So in my fantasy dog world I'd have an Irish Wolfhoud, a Deerhound, an Italian Spinone and a Briard. Affenpinscher? Pffft, I don't think so.

How did you get such a mixture of such large and small breeds, Umo?

I am still trying to puzzle out how I can maintain a Bichon Frise on 1/2 an hour of grooming each week.

I would not want any of the 8 breeds they gave me. Mad

I would consider the Tibbie, the Corgi and of course, I have Schips. The rest, no.

You haven't? Why I thought everyone was aware of the natural progression of Schipperke ownership evolution!

What is a Black Russian? Is it alcoholic? Or a Tibbie? I must look up Affenpinscher - I'm learning lots.

Interesting results for me as well, although I would love any of these dogs on my list. Found the Chihuahua (Long Coat) interesting mixed in with the others.

Australian Shepherd
Cardigan Welsh Corgi
Belgian Sheepdog
Belgian Tervuren
Border Collie
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Chihuahua (Long Coat)
German Shepherd

A Black Russian Terrier is a HUGE dog much like a Giant Schnauzer or Bouvier. Only bigger. Black with wavy, shaggy hair. Neighbour up here had one as a guard dog. He grows an extremely lucrative crop in the bush and does not want hapless hikers and bikers to end up in his harvest zone. So he bought this massive, imposing dog. It was completely harmless and hardly even barked. But it did give people heart attacks when it lumbered out of the bush straight at you looking exactly like a big, black, bear.

THey are not overly common. Sadly this one was shot, probably because someone mistook it for a bear.

German Shepherd (had 1)
Bernese Mountain Dog (looked at 1)
Golden Retriever (wanted one)
Akita (nope)
Belgian Sheepdog (yup)
Belgian Tervuren (sure)
Curly-Coated Retriever (nope)
Australian Shepherd (nope)

neat. I made myself a promise that every great dog that I was ever blessed with having I would never repeat the breed. My expectations would be to high.

I am pretty sure I wouldn't want any of the dogs I got! Somehow I managed to get a bunch of long-haired little dogs. I have a Newf and absolutely love him.

I have a cocker spaniel and a pug. Close enough to the spaniels and bulldogs they suggested, lol.
