MY two geese, a male and female, have lived with 5 ducks from day one. They have grown up together from babyhood.

All of a sudden the female goose has become very aggressive towards the ducks. She will grab onto a duck and not let go! The duck is squawking and flapping and running around and the goose is going along, latched on like a pitbull.

What's the deal with that? Every now and then the geese like to poke and shove the ducks around. BUt this outright grabbing one and going for a drag, that's new and I don't like it.

Anyone have any goose behaviour experience to offer? I have not yet seen the male goose (gander) do this, just the female so far. Don't know if it's the same duck that gets picked on, but feathers are lost to this little game of grab- and- drag- behind.

I had no idea. Well, it's a good thing I asked. Maybe time to consider other plans. Thanks Higgins.

mine all run together as well. Things just got a little hairy at breeding season. They have never attacked another duck but they did decide to gang cull am old hen last week.

My geese run with the ducks and protect them from overhead predators.  During breeding season the geese get a place of their own but otherwise always with the ducks.  They do have a very large area though so that might be why it works so well here.

Nobody asked how HigginsRAT got such a cool picture of the pens from so high up. It was not from an airplane and I know how she got them, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah!! High up in the sky, a view from the clouds. Uno, whatcha gonna do with all those waterfowl in the winter? Picture you with a henhouse full of poultry and waterfowl, a huge muck, muck that will certainly freeze Razz . Have a most beautiful day, CynthiaM.
