Oh oh, do you have a problem that has surfaced. I know these are nasty things and for surely, to understand the life cycle is a very good thing. I am following this thread too, cause I want to know too, and I am too lazy to start doing a search for stuff. I so far am mite free. Last year was a baddy. But I was armed with stuff and I believe my hard work worked.....I wanna learn too. Have an awesome day, CynthiaM.

I had found a practically dead guinea chick this morning and finished it off so it wasn't suffering anymore. As I was carrying it outside to dispose of it, my hand felt itchy and boy oh boy.

I checked the babies a while back, as well as hens, when I was having all those deaths, and found no mites and was very pleased. I've had a broody explosion (10....) and if I remember correctly, last year when this happened is when I ended up with mites again (but not nearly this bad). I dusted and changed bedding yesterday, will dust again when I get home today. I put the remainder of my DE in a box in the middle of the coop so the girls can dust themselves and left them out today.

I have no doubt the mouse problem has contributed to this. I may dust the babies and bring them in the house to brood.

Sue, when I googles this, I didn't get any results like this. I HATE google these days. Yay filtered results! This is perfect, thanks.

You're welcome, Sweets. I love to search for info.

And often when I Google, I goggle!

Anytime you get birds hunkering into bedding and not moving, this flares up, and the little ones are most affected. I find it is hard to check for parasites when a hen wants to dismember your hand.

I see you are planning a video game. First person shooter? I'd buy it!
