Just compare the price to what it is on amazon or a place like incubator warehouse.

I can't tell by looking but is the temperature controlled with wafers or digitally? I know they are more expensive but I have been spoiled by excellent hatches and will never use an incubator with wafers again.

That goes double for me. I started my first hatch in a wafer bator and quickly switched to something better. The inconsistent temps were driving me INSANE.

For the same money, you could get a Brinsea - http://www.cbotkin.ca/Incubators/Octagon_Incubators/Octagon%2020%20Incubators/Octagon_20_ECO.html

Honestly, though, I would save up and spring for something with digital temperature control. Like this:

I LOVE my Brinsea. I have the Octagon 40 ADV EX. Second batch of eggs are in it right now, and 22/22 of my fertile eggs are developing perfectly. This is mine:

You can also google for reviews of the incubator you're considering. I know the Rcom brand have been getting HORRIBLE reviews on the chicken groups on facebook. I would also avoid the Brower brand, from personal experience, they are just not great.

Some people seem to have great hatches with the styrofoam incubators - my mom used to have 100% hatches - but then I know others who only had six eggs out of an entire incubator hatch.

Really, it depends how serious you're going to be about hatching. I intend to be fairly serious, but not cabinet incubator serious. For me, the Octagon 40 made the most sense. I just wish I wouldn't have wasted my money on the first cheapo incubator and bought the Brinsea right off the bat!

A well cared for used-bought incubator still will retain it's value. Sell your Brower or use it s a brooder, Authentic!

Once you go Brinsea you never go back.

Brinsea all the way. I tried a couple of my older wafer incubators this year, disaster. Save your money and wait till you can afford a good one.

I thought about selling it, but I would feel bad selling that hunk-o-junk to anyone as a functional incubator. I'm too honest! I am keeping it around as a brooder or warmer kind of a deal.

The Brinsea makes me happy every single day.

I think I shall pitch this as an ad for Brinsea!

Buy the Brinsea brand incubator!
Better than a husband!  More reliable without those annoying mercurial changes!
