I had ordered some pretty special hatching eggs some time ago...months ago in fact. I ordered one dozen and paid for them and the shipping well in advance. Now I am not going to say from whom but shipped from Manitoba to BC.

I got the email Monday the 30th (they were due to ship this day) so I was excited....well in the email with the tracking number, so already shipped, the person says " sorry but the hens didn't do so well and I could only ship 3 eggs.".....no chance to ask for my money back because they had already shipped them....3 eggs! Really??! OK 8- 10 I could have handled and not complained, not at all. But 3?? Seriously, why would anyone bother. When I used to ship a `dozen`i would send up to 18...

So I pay for a dozen and get 3....AND they are just wrapped up in an egg carton then the carton is wrapped in 2 layers of brown paper then shipped, 3 provinces.....they never stood a chance! Mangled air cells...looks like soda pop inside these eggs.

Thus concludes my poultry farming.....I am so done. cheers

OMG Kelly I would be furious! I would rather someone email or call me before this happened and give ME the option!
I would demand my money back for sure, that is unreal.

I am beyond furious...disappointed is putting it mildly. I have no idea if this person is on this site and don't care. I had these ordered for so long I forgot how I came to find this person confused

I just hope if they are and they read this that they don't do this to someone else....I was really good in not backing out of the deal even though I had sold all my poultry and gamebirds to go out of poultry altogether. I decided not to back out of this deal because I had agreed to it months ago and paid for it months ago....some people...argh!

Thats not right ! demand your money back ,plus the shipping ! They should have told you about what was going on and made you a offer to wait or send back the Total amount that you paid !!I wouldn't be happy at all !! Sorry to hear that they came from my province , hope you get somewhere with this all !

Oh that is horrible!!! Definately the person should refund your money AND your shipping that's crazy!!! I can understand hens taking a break but 3eggs should never have been shipped especially such a long distance that's just craziness

I agree , they should have updated you before shipping after all the cost for shipping is the same for 2 dozen or 3 eggs. So who would pay that high of a shipping price for thee eggs? I am sorry that you have had your fill with poultry. I guess there is a time and a place for everything. Good luck with this issue. Hey Kelly, I just took back one of my girls who is the litter sister to Samson . They love her and were giving her a great home except one of their neighbors is afraid of her and called the police twice because when they were in their back yard the dog would bark at them. I am going to be keeping this one since I had to put one down last week. I will post a picture of her. Cheers.

Boy, that experience is enough to keep me driving across the provinces to pick up my eggs. Between you and a friend of mine who's ordered eggs twice in the mail with disastrous outcomes, I'd rather spend the money to go get them myself.

I sure hope you get all your $$ back...that is a huge waste of time. I just did our first shipping with the help of Hidden River...I wouldn't have dared even as an ignorant newbie to ship them like that!!

That is totally unfair. I don’t see how the seller could in good conscience ship you three eggs when you ordered and paid for a dozen. scratch I hope this gets resolved as it should – full refund and an apology.

3 eggs! I still gobsmacked! Who would only ship 3 freaking eggs??? and then not wrap them individually???

You SO deserve a refund!

I agree with everyone else, totally crazy!
However this person maybe inexperienced with shipping eggs and needs to be educated.
This person may have had the best intentions and thought some eggs are better than no eggs.
You definitely have to let them know they should of contacted you before shipping them to find out what you wanted.

Got a not so nice email back...seems a while back she said her hens were only laying a few and would only be able to send me 6...i said ok as she promised to send the refund with them. Well I am pretty sure 3 is not 6. I am also pretty sure I wouldn't have to explain how to parcel up eggs. The person said they had no idea that the packaging wouldn't be enough as they had wrapped the eggs well inside the carton and lablelled the package with fragile, and perishable, and hatching eggs and do not shake...yah that makes it all good. This person also stated they sent a refund...well I never found anything in the packaging and also had 2 other people go through the contents to make sure I wasn't missing something silly like money or a cheque. So it is down to she said/I said so guess who wins? Not me...... No

Thanks everyone for your support, It has been a great ride. I made tons of great friends and most folks are really good people. Just takes a few to make it not worth the effort.....

I am down to 6 layig hens for my own eggs and that is that...... Sad

If it is of any interest to you, I have a friend visiting from Jaffray in early July and if you'd like a few hens, I will have both laying and up-and-coming birds. Let me know okay? I'm not sure if you're resigning yourself to only having a few because you can't get more, or if you're holding the line at what you've got because you're washing your hands of the whole thing. Anyway, I will have some for sale and the delivery wouldn't be an issue, I don't think.

Whatever the case, I hope you get rid of the bitter taste I know you have in your mouth. Really crappy. Know that that person represents the minority in the poultry world, and please accept my best wishes for happier transactions.

What a bunch of crap that is, saying that she sent the refund in the mail. Everybody knows that you don't risk sending cash in the mail or if you do and it is stolen then the person taking the chance should suffer the loss not you and if she claims that she sent you a check then she should be able to prove it with the cancelled check. It is too bad that you can't give us her name so that we can avoid her like the plaque.

I feel for you , sending a check with the eggs ? sounds kinda fishy to me ? I think I know who you are talking about ? Don't give up , there has to be a few bad ones to make you appreciate the good ones , live and learn from it , we've all had to

That is terrible, you should get more than a refund, my first eggs this year most were infertile but a least I got them paid alot but just about no hatch

The main point of this posting was to attempt to show the sender that the manner in which he/she has/is doing business is not acceptable by myself or anyone else. I was trying to show that the opinions were not just from myself but also of others. It did not work. I tried.

I will not post this person's name either here or in any PM's, please do not ask. I do not wish to bash this person. I was hoping they would see that they made a mistake and fix it and not just make denials or excuses. I agree this person is certainly not the norm and there ae very few of them out there doing business so poorly.

Leslie, you are very sweet, but I have enough hens for myself. I am just not in business to sell them anymore. I know where to get replacements when I need them thanks to this amazing board.

Prarie dog....it is sad that you may know this person...seems they have or do this often enough to have a reputation.

Dan....is this sweety sister to Sam as sweet as Sam? I bet she is Very Happy I am sorry you had to put the young one down but she was in pain beyond repairing, you did right by her and i know how you feel. Hopefully Sam's sister helps you through your loss. I am grateful every day to have Sam cheers
