Not chicken related ,but life related .I have had this happen to me more then enough as of late and I am just curious when would you....yes you! step in .You see a violation happening ?,someone being harrased ,mistreated abused ? what do you do ? Something as simple as reckless driving ......around young children ? Do you just shake your head ,turn the other check as it were ?? I have gotten involved ,but as of late my wife and young son have been there and I didn't feel the need in what was happening to get them involved ,although I did report it to the RCMP because it bothered me and others enough that we thought something needed to be done about the issue at hand .It seems that the world has gone mad ,or at least some people have and do we just except this or do we do something about it ?? ...........curious

I think, for me, there is no one right way about this, but each situation has to be judged on a case by case basis.

Some situations I do believe concerned citizens have to step in. In other situations things should be left up to the law. But in some rural areas, good luck to you trying to get an RCMP officer to attend a situation when you need one! I have learned that a 'concerned citizen' call is often pushed to the bottom of the list. The concerned citizen call that says, "Just to let you know there are 12 carfuls of young people at our dead end road about to light a load of pallets on fire (it's August in heavily wooded BC) and I'm taking my rifle up there to go check things out." THAT gets a cop car on scene pronto!

I have, by myself, confronted many many fire lighters and garbage dumpers over the years. Not with my husband in tow, but by myself and HOW it is handled often determines the outcome. But there are also situations where you just don't go there. Local dope growers who make BIG money with their illegal crops, you don't go futzing with those boys. They'll kill you.

So..how involved do you want to get? Do you feel that local problems are your to handle or that someone else should take care of it all? My philosophy is if there is something I can do, I will and I do. But I also am a prudent judge of knowing when I'm out gunned.

Whatever you are facing, do not make a snap decision. Careful, considered thought when you are calm, is all I can advise.

Exactly ! I don't get involved personally if I know the situation can get out of control .I have friends who are Cops as well as friends who shall we say would do any thing for me ? But it's a matter of doing something !I followed a fellow a few years ago that was so drunk that he drove into oncoming traffic ,hit the shoulder ( was tempted to push him in all the way ) veered back and forth and all I could do was follow and be ready for what the outcome might be ( I have my first aid etc ).I took his plate number ,make and modle of his car and when he went off the highway onto a country road I headed straight for the RCMP .Absolute waste of time that was ! Are you willing to go to court was the very first question ( this also happen a while later with another drunk driver ) they asked ? I told them that I would but they had to go after him asap ,drunk driver ..hot engine etc ????,to which she wanted to write a whole report ,which I would have done except that she didn't bother calling a car to go look at any time !I WALKED OUT AFTER TELLING HER WHAT I THOUGHT OF THERE PROCEDURE Now I realize that this isn't a area that I should be involved in as far as pulling the driver over myself ,but I think I tried to do what was right .Get involved if you can ,get help if needed but don't walk away and close your eyes to the situation ,which is what I keep seeing people do ?Is it that hard to make a call ? every one seems to have a phone attached to there ear these days !
