Yes, into the incubator they will go. I am not sure about the timing and do not relish the thought of messy, stinky, yet adorable goslings a month from now. However, it cannot be helped. The geese are laying and in my experience you have to strike while the iron is hot with these beasties. After all, you never know when they will up and stop laying, do you?

Hoping for a good hatch. If not, Triple J will be hearing from me!

My goose has been sitting on her eggs for two weeks now. Two more to go. Should be hatching Easter weekend. I'm putting faith in Mother Nature and praying she hatches them all. Depending on quantity I will let her keep a couple and sell the rest as people want those dudes like yesterday!

Good luck sue Smile

Good luck to you! Mine were never successful. What kind of geese do you have?

Good luck!

One of my Shetland geese had made a nest and laid 6 eggs in it before I found it. She was easily knocked off it by the gander so I set up a pen around it with her own food and water - and now she's on her own she's actually setting. Fingers crossed in 29-31 days I think...

So excited!

Now if only my Toulouse would start laying....

Did any of you check eggs for fertility, by the way? I didn't. Now wonder if I shouldn't have cracked one open. She is missing feathers on the back of her head and the gander has been on her, so it isn't for lack of enthusiasm.

I didnt check, but it won't be long before I can candle. I have Toulouse laying so yours should be next! I have at least 2 maybe three ganders if the fighting is any indicaion. I am hoping for good fertility.

The Toulouse are in a busy pen with turkeys so have never set so I will just incubate those eggs WHEN they start arriving. I know I have two males and two females - one male is very dominant and bigger, broader and more aggressive than the rest, with a fair dewlap. I happily had a wild goose biologist visit when they were goslings and she was able to confirm the sexes, lucky me!

I love goslings!

The funny thing I now have a huge pool on the field right outside the goose pen but when I let the Shetland geese out every morning they walk the other way, to play with the puddles under the barn roof and tease the piglets.

Mine are sebastapols. I did not crack any because I was afraid to waste them. She had a little bald patch forming on the back of her head so I zm hopeful. I never saw them trying though She's got 7 or 8 eggs I think and she would murder me if I tried to candle them. We will have to wait!

My sebastapols are setting as well. I'm hoping in about 2 1/2 weeks. Got my fingers, toes and eyes crossed. : ) Lou

Oh good fuzzylittefriend - that was my thought too. Surely the bald spot on the back of the head and the determination of the goose means some must be fertile??

Fingers crossed for us all!

I have found 3 pilgrim eggs so far, 2 in the dog house and one in the bales, so am going to set them this Sunday and hope for the best. I have never been successful. Also I have just seperated the crossbreds from them so not even certain these will be pure...BUT going to set them anyways.

Geese! Sue! Would you happen to have a few golden goose eggs for me to bring home with me to BC on the 31st? My mom thinks she wants geese.

Beaumont is not too far out of the way. Doug works in Nisku, just to the west.

I like where this is heading. I can easily pick them up from Nisku. The place in Beaumont is south of Airport Rd (I think?) and pretty much a straight shot to Nisku if memory serves correctly.

My Sebs have been sitting for about a month, 3 geese on 6 eggs. I went into their coop this morning and smelled a stink bomb What a Face I go in there and one of the ganders attacks me, hmm that's strange. The geese stand up an there is a little gosling, so cute. Now do I take it away, move a goose and the baby to the house. I decided to leave it in there, I put a shallow dish of water and food in there. It's really cold right now but I figure the 3 geese will easily keep it warm, hope I made the right decision.
