What features would you be looking for in a Flock Management Software?

I am currently working on a flock management software and would like to know what you would like to see in it!

Currently i have
Egg Recording including,
Weight
if it was fertile
Date Laid,Set,hatched,
Breed
Multi hen adding

Sales & Expenses
Poultry Order system ( keep record of who ordered what)
Feed Calculations
Breeding flocks

Poultry Information System that includes
ID Tag,
Name,
Sex,
Date of Birth,
Date of Death,
Breeder,
Comments, of the bird
Images of the bird
Death Notes (coming soon!)


Everything can be exported to Microsoft office word. I must say that exporting is crude, so does not look the best.

What features would you like to see in the flock management software?

Afraid my extent if flock management is an iPad calendar and a coil scribbler.

My flock manager would feed, water, shovel, worm when needed, treat for crawlers when needed, repair fencing and building and gather and wash eggs.

When you have that for an ipad, call me!

I almost didn't buy it because it won't run on my iPad but aside frommthat i like it. Even if you don't buy it you might consider the trial version, it may give you ideas of how to build your own.

Is the breed of the bird a drop down list or one that you can create for those that have their own crosses?

How about purchase price of bird? Be it adult or chick.

Total price to raise each chick?

Total cost calcuation for each bird. It will differ slightly per bird due to medical care.

How about a place for medical care and a place to note what bird received what?

Also, in the feed calculations, does it add in water?

For the egg section, how about color of the egg? Espeically handy for those raising the darker egg color birds or the blue egg colors.


Anyway, you asked for suggestions LOL. You may have some of this in there already, but just a few things. It really does look good though.

The breed is simply a text input box, so you enter something like "Sussex Crossed with Australorp",I like the purchase price.

Once we get in to the total price to raise a chick we get complicated, because there are a lot of different factors and that would mean lot's of inputs. So for example the time you brood them for and the price/kWh is different every where, and than the feed changes etc. So i might add it, but be looking for lot's of inputs, and somewheres further down the road.

I am confused about what you mean by water? Unless you live in a city/town water does not normally cost you(excluding energy usage for pump). So the water input would not be made use of often.And again we get into having to set utilities.

Mine is a spiral notebook and a calendar for each year. Not very high tech I am afraid, but a creature of habit. Been doing it that way for almost 14 years........

Totally understand the complexities of doing total price for raising chicks on it. Something for later on maybe lol.

A place to note any feather issues? Like muffeling in the feathers of BR's.

Also parentage maybe? You get some really nice birds and you want to know which parent stock it came from. Such as if I bred hen A with roo C I get good hen markings. If I bred hen B to roo A I get good roo markings.
