My brain is too weary to keep up with you guys tonight. Me feel like cave woman... Time to hunt and gather dinner.

But Uno, thanks for bringing back your post. See all the wonderful responses you have generated!

I shall bow out to the stronger minds here!

I find it interesting that the responses that were generated so far from the base of the topic of it being the worst thing for a woman to do, have only related to herself.
What consequences do these actions have on the child?
We have children for our own selfish reasons, varied as they may be. Plain and simple.
I chose not to, for many reasons which I will not get into, as my views would offend many.

Wow! This is great! R.Roo might be the first man in modern history to get hit in the head with dry teradactyl poo.

This conversation was also not meant to swing into the realm of NOW and US and OUR kids. Because caveman times to now have changed too much to make too many reasonable comparisons. I think?

Hillbilly, your point is an interesting one. From a cavewoman perspective, the danger to herself (of not being supported) left her child also in danger. Terror times two. Call it love, call it instinct, all mothers fear harm to their children and live to keep them alive.

About choice? I don't think cavewomen had choice. We have now way of knowing how much they even knew about cause and effect of sex. Even today rape is violently rampant in many African countries. Our idea of choice is a happy little bubble that white western women have. I think there are women now in our country, perhaps of other cultures and religions, that do not have choice, in 2013!!!

Sue, eat and clear your head already!

Ok, here goes.

Women and children here, today, in this society are constantly at risk from the males of their species. Why is this? Perhaps there are unreported statistics that show I am wrong, but women seem most at risk of being abused in a relationship with a man, not the other way around. It is usually men who will sexually abuse a child. I may have mentioned this before, but if a pregnant woman is murdered, the murderer is most often her spouse. This horrifies me and not for the reason you may think.

It horrifies me because in the case of most of these male abusers, males in general, in fact, were raised for the most part by women!

Now I know I am simplifying things here and I hope I am not insulting any of our fine upstanding male and female members of this forum by what are merely observations and generalizations on my part, but what the heck are we (women) doing wrong?!?

Let loose the slings and arrows!

SUe, you work in a school. Are you allowed any real, actual, timely and effective discipline? NO! In fact, your hair probably stood on end hearing me say those politically incorrect words.

Uno, you had better believe I am allowed real, timely, effective discipline 'cos I do it myself and don't take my kids' issues to the admin. No, my hair is not on end. OK, well it is, but only 'cos it is so darned curly.

Anyhoo, I have a favorite saying that I try to apply at school, "Let the punisment fit the crime."

Be it a line from Gilbert and Sullivan's Mikado:

My object all sublime
I shall achieve in time —
To let the punishment fit the crime —
The punishment fit the crime;

Or be it a line from a Ramone's song:

Let the punishment fit the crime
The footprints on (the sign the time)
The philosophy of (warish crime)
Make a man humble in his prime

Let the punishment fit the crime

Caught me. But can you make it stand up in court? Doubt it.

So Sue, riddle me this....are women crazy and crippled to have children, considering the vulnerable state they both are in?

Crippled, yes, crazy, no. We are the selfless ones that hold continuation of the species in our hands.

Interesting ? I was always told that a child ( boy ) will treat his wife / spouse the same way that it's mother treated it ? Also he will watch his father as well .........monkey see monkey do ,if you believe in evolution that is ?

So when we permit ourselves to be abused at the hands of a spouse, the same sex children learn the behavior from the abuser. True in some cases but not always. We give birth to the little darlings but there are many factors that mould their behavior.

..........Wasn't implying abuse ? but I understand what you mean ,It's been shown that ""in some cases"" such as bullying that it's something that the child has been around and picked up on ? But this is going off track here ........cavemen versus the cave women
