Thanks Guys. The big 40! Main present is the "Caravan of Love", a 8 by 16 foot chicken coop on a wagon base for when we move. He's still at the taking the sized bearings-wheels off it stage.

Strawberries and cream cake for tea with steaks on the new BBQ. We were without one most of the winter because the wind blew it off the front porch the second time and it wrecked it. So all in all a good day. Oh and a trip to the post office too ti ship eggs! lol!

Yes I think we are making a counter offer on a cute old house too. No idea if we can get it in the end due to selling a farm being a slow process round here. Guess time will tell and I am impatient Taurus!

We are selling our beautiful farm, as it`s too far from work for DH and too much work. I work away all week (when I work) so he is left with 2 hours of commuting, chores and a stressful 9 hour+ day at work. It's 100 acres with a huge 60x87 old bank barn. The house is 5 bedrooms and old and has smaller rooms and not laid out the way we want. We had planned to build another house on the property after 5 years and there is no way we can afford it. We have spent a lot on this old house and feel no further on after 4 years. Seems all our money goes into it and the farm and nothing to show for it but backache. Hubby did say he didn't want to be a farmer. I should have listened.

We want to build a smaller more efficient house suitable for 2 people on maybe 10 private acres with a couple cleared and build a little barn to suit us and our chickens and the odd weaner pig not the 100 beef cow barn we have now. So instead of it taking 48 hours a day for us to make a living doing this and trying to sell the extra things we grow, I`ll spend less time away working to pay for it and more time just raising and growing enough for us.

I am heartbroken to leave, as the farm is beautiful but it is for the best and we will be happier in the long run. This next place will just be a fixer-upper for a year or two (just have to be sure I can keep 3-4 roosty boys there) while we take our time looking for the perfect land. Hence the wheelable chicken coop! I am excited about it and if we spend the evening (after the steaks) working on it I will be very content.

Oh Claire, I can imagine how you feel. But you seem realistic and I know you'll get to your end goal - just keep it firmly in you mind's eye. It will come, and you'll both be so happy!

I hope someone with the right vision is heading your way right now. Your farm needs to sell! At the risk of sounding flaky, maybe you have to be really firm in your thinking that you're ready to let that farm go.

I know if it was me I'd be very torn too. I have a beautiful place too, and I too work more than I'd like to just keep and maintain it. Good luck with everything!!

FarmChiq it isn't easy, I am still struggling with it, but I remind myself it will be better and Hubby will be happier! At least I get to keep some chickens! And we will eventually have an awesome house and land by water that is exactly what we want!

Too soon for Freezer Boy steaks Chickenlee! Another 2 weeks or so! I would have loved them! But yeah just in time for the Summer! If you are ever out this way...... we`ll have a BBQ

Thanks for the Birthday wishes. This is such a cool time of year for a Birthday! I was born in Cyprus in an RAF Hospital! My Mum always said it was 102 degrees F (which is really hot to English people!) A lean 16 degrees C here now. Just got some flowers from my SIL. She remembers everything, and MIL made me Apple pie the way I like it on Sunday! She made another one with lumps of apple for everyone else!

How exciting to be planning a move! Change can be worrisome, but you have so many new and wonderful possibilities to look forward to. It sure keeps life interesting! I wish you the very best with all your future plans, and we'll look forward to hearing about it all as it happens!
