Hey everyone,
Are you planning on attending the poultry show on the 23rd-25th? Are you staying around to enjoy the event?
We are looking to fill a number of volunteer positions to help this year's show run smooth and be a great time for all. With so much on the go in regards to the show, and the board of directors only 8 people strong, having a supportive group of volunteers will help to make the show go off without a hitch, and be a wonderful experience for all.
There are numerous tasks that will need attention over the course of the weekend. The biggest and most time consuming task where help is needed the most, is during the set up and take down of the tables and show cages.
If you are available:
Thursday starting at 10 am and would like to chip in, extra hands make for light and easy work. It is much appreciated.
Sunday starting at 4:00 pm - If you don't mind staying around for an hour roughly afterwards, having extra people there to help with clean up is very much appreciated, all those cages tables, shavings and such has to be removed.
Volunteers are also needed for the following tasks:
Front Door/ Show admittance: We are looking for at least 2-4 volunteers to help out on rotation, working the door, stamping hands for re admittance, greeting public.
We are looking for energetic people who enjoy saying hi and welcoming spectators. We want you to enjoy the show, so don't worry you won't be stuck in this position the whole time.
Sweeping / Garbages: Looking for 2-4 volunteers to help keep the show floor clean between the aisles and ensuring garbage and recyclable items are in proper containers. Up keeping the aisle free from shavings, keeps the area safe as it reduces a potential slipping hazard for spectators, shavings and concrete can be slick. This position involves being on you feet, and lots of moving around. Great way to get some exercise and see all the different breeds and booths. A chance to talk with others, and take in the show.
Feeding and Watering Poultry Only: Looking for 2-4 dedicated individuals to make a few rounds through out each day of the show to make sure that our feathered friends have access to fresh water and good eats, it's your chance to see each and every poultry specimen at the show. This is an important task, we feel that no animal should go without water or feed. We have some good feed for the birds this year!
These are the primary duties where we could use some assistance. During the show hours different duties may be assigned as they come up.
If there is something that needs attention, please find me on the floor and I will be more than willing to help. You will find me partaking and helping out with the above duties as well. I see it not as work, but a fun way to experience the show, and sneak in a much needed bit of exercise for myself!
If you would like to help out at the show please contact me either by PM or Email, I will be coordinating volunteers.
Thank you very much from myself and the CHB Board!
