I have. The first one was a dud, but the second worked. I used it for one season but because my water is outside, undercover the plastic got very brittle and broke from the UV I suppose. I now use the stainless fonts on a heated base.

No, but if it is only the base that is heated then I can see the top freezing and bursting.
