F1 first eggs

Well, you all know of my little project to have a winter hardy dark layer. I am pretty happy with the colour of the first eggs that the older pullets have laid. Nice effort for the first cross I think.

I have shown them with their Marans mother, a Ameraucana and a Partridge Chantecler egg. They are the smaller, mid coloured ones.

I am very happy with this start and I think I really have something to move forward with. I have 3 more of these pullets available if anyone is interested.

Also ment to say they are 22 weeks tomorrow, so pretty happy with the age they have started to lay as well.

What will you name your new cross when it is recognized? I vote for B.D. Cooper as in Beaverdell Cooper.

Interesting Farmchiq, lets see what everyone else comes up with. What do you all think I should call these new birds (when the time comes)? Remember lots of blues next year when I add back a splash Marans into the mix to get the eggs even darker!!!
