The EU has ruled that putting coffee grounds on your garden is against the law.

The rules say that any active ingredient or chemical used in gardening must be explicitly approved and placed on an EU list of pesticides.

Caffeine has not yet been tested.

Sheesh.

My favorite line is "This aims to stop people using ‘home-made remedies in a dangerous manner’." Note to self, do not pour bleach on the tomatoes next time the aphids attack. Well.... DUH! If it is safe to DRINK water stepped in coffee beans, why on earth would coffee beans applied to soil be dangerous?

I get all wound up every time I hear about new regulations being passed to protect people from their own stupidity. Darwin says it best! Twisted Evil

So many of the people in charge of these things have absolutely no clue about rural life. I remember years ago when Bernard Lord took power out here and one of the first things he did was gut agricultural services. I went through the list of his politicians and every one of them were city boys.

I believe that the reason behind anything is usually to protect themselves if they have added anything to the product that could be harmfull in some way .........sort of like in California where it seems everything can give you cancer ? Unfortunatly our youth are more willing to listen and as such in the next generation there will only be followers and that is another goal .......total reliance on the goverment to control the mass's and get rid of those of us who actually know better........my thoughts
