He's not show quality I know, I know. I need to know what to work on however, so I'm taking suggestions.

So far I know his legs aren't yellow enough.

I'm wondering if his wattles are too big? He's about 5 months old. The other ugly guy we have her doesn't have aaaany wattles at all. I've attached a picture of him on the bottom.

Be gentle Wink

Didn't know which pictures would help the most. They're all pretty similar.

Here's that other Roo, who's leaving tomorrow to another home who appreciates his buff tinting far more than I do.

Nice yellow legs though.

you sure that isnt corn yellowing in his feathers? Mine almost looks more yellow than your fellow, but I know he is white in feather. Im more curious about the blue/grey in his tail feathers...could it be??

Your boy with light color legs reminds me of some phenotypes I have here. Same straight backline and tail angle. Are his feathers hard and slippery, is he wary and hard to catch?

The young cockerel looks quite nice. It would be nicer to see the end of his comb tuck in tighter to his skull. His wattles are not horrible if they stayed that size but most likely as he matures the wattles will end up larger. It seems like he is expressing more rose comb so he might be a RRPp. Which would explain the slightly raised comb and wattles. Would be nice if he had strong leg color.

He does have some nice traits like back length, looks like body size. Not sure on chest as but looks like he will be a good meaty cockerel.

The older rooster has some nice traits with his wide meaty body, great strong yellow leg color. But the blue under color is a tad scary. He also posses no wattles which is not a great thing as the standard requires small round wattles.

Thanks you two, for your input. Lets see if I can answer the question/touch on the points.

@Reneggaide
I'll catch him tonight before I close up the coop and feel his feathers. I've never locked it into memory. His feathers are very smooth, I know that. I have thoughtmany times when I'm holding my chanties that they're incredibly soft compared to the other birds I have. He's very hard to catch -- I do it at night or it just doesn't happen unless he corners himself.

@Both
The blue you see is actually dirt, his feathers are white in the tail, yellow on the saddling and hackle (right terms?). He's not a clean roo, doesn't make a point of bathing himself and I oiled his legs for a while as he had some scales raising up. He never bothered to clean himself afterwards. He was very heavy and firm, lots of meat. Our other Roo isn't as big as he is yet but is getting heavier every time I hold him.

Thanks for your input.
