You're right.
Initially there was a withholding time for meat and milk, but it was eliminated after study, and the old guidelines are still commonly shown.

Advantage Multi labeled for dogs has moxidectin in it. But it also has imadclopramid in it which is apparently toxic to upland game birds. Not sure how it would affect chickens. Find a large animal vet and ask for cytectin propbably easier!

In ay case, the active chemicals in the two named in this discussion don't seem to be highly toxic to people - I don't think I'd sell eggs for a week or so, but I'd certainly eat them myself, feed them to pets, etc.

Thanks for the confirmation ipf. Smile

Not sure about that, I went to the site that Coopslave put on about moxidectin and read the information, this is what was found, I have quoted, I would presume this is very recent. Yes the information I am quoting says zero milk withdrawal, if used according to instructions, but it does indicate 15 days after treatment with this drug. If I am unsuccessful with the use of eprinex to completely eradicate the northern mite issue in my cochins, I will be obtaining some moxidectin. It can be obtained from the company, in Ontario, but bet my vet could order it in for me. I am inquiring about this. I have worries that the eprinex may not be going to do its thing properly, but the tale will be told when I check for mites on the chickens today. Have a wonderful day, CynthiaM.

From the site for cydectin (0.5% moxidectin)

Used it along time on the Dairy goats and meat goats
Our Milk we sold to the Processor and it was tested at the plant and did not show any residue it was approved for use.
In the meat goats the same
Guess it is like most other products that people use on chickens nothing is approved for the use but people do it with no problem
I have not had to use it on Chickens as of yet (knock on wood)
but if I do I would
Those that are worried about withdrawl time
if you use it do like you do with other Drugs
On a side note It may Burn on the chicken skin as it is formulated for Cattle skin I have heard people say it can burn Goat and sheep skin I have had it sprayed on me with no problem have also had a few cc of it squirted in my mouth and still alive

Cindi - as noted earlier, that is outdated info! There is no withdrawal time required for Cydectin (moxidectin) or Eprinex (eprinomectin) but there is for other drugs in this class (e.g. ivermectin).
