TripleJ, you should let people know that there is a chance that this cross will not lay an olive egg. Unless you have test mated your Ameraucanas to know that they are OO for blue eggs, which many are not, there is a chance that these could lay a brown egg.
Just a heads up so that a people know and you don't get any grief in the future.

Just out of curiosity how would you test your ameraucana? I hatched a lot of ameraucana x chicks last year and only 1 of them laid a brown egg? My parent stock were random (some older) ameraucana's that just laid blue eggs?

Triple J, Did you not see my post that said that I was looking for a slash Copper Marans peferably from my whitmore line. I will happily pay 30.00 for him alone.

Chicken Team, Are you willing to sell the splash rooster that you have agreed to buy? I can replace him in a couple of months with a Blue Copper Marans. Dan Smith 403 240-2275

The rooster is not a necessary part of the deal, so your other rooster or another pullet or just the two is fine. Dan can get his rooster!

As I pointed out somewhere else, that graphic is NOT correct. The F2, where you mate the olive egger to a dak brown egger, will give only 50% olive egg-laying birds.

ALL daughters of a pure Amer, crossed with anything at all, will lay blue/green eggs (or the pure Amer wasn't pure).

If you take one of those daughters, and mate it to a male of a non-blue egg breed, 50% (on average) of the daughters will lay blue/green eggs. Yes, it's that simple (unlike pretty much everything else).

?? not sure what I'm suposed to learn from that URL, but I'm open to suggestion.

diagram out the crosses and the genes, and I think you'll see I'm right.

the people who bought the birds know there is the possiblility they can lay brown eggs/..whats your point here on my "poultry for sale" thread to get into a gentics debate? I don\'t get it they know.... i know.... we all know... thank you,

the birds are sold and thats all i was trying to do here.. Smile

My point is simply that the graphic was misleading/incorrect, and that results of crosses wouldn't be what was suggested there. No "genetics debate", just what to expect from matings.
