This kinda rides along with the "Small Gesture" topic a week or two ago.
Ten years ago this month we were in a situation where we needed to move off the property where we lived east of Kamloops. My wife, daughter and I were living in a mobile where the only heat was from the electric stove.
One Sunday morning we took our usual place in church. A lovely, elderly lady knew we were looking for a place to live. She had a concern about us and kindly asked if we had found someplace to move. A lady in the aisle in front of us heard the conversation and said she knew someone who had a property to rent and was looking for good renters. Eventually she supplied us with a phone number and in a short time we were looking at this raw plywood sided house that lacked many things, but had a very nice woodstove that kept the place toasty. We soon agreed to rent the place and moved in immediately. Our teenage daughter at the time would have gladly divorced her parents if that had been a option and to this day wonders how we could have moved her from the big city of Kamloops to the boonies at Barriere. The landlord made it easy for our family to owned the property in time and the house is a lot different than the day we rented it.
As time past our oldest son moved back to Kamloops. The elderly lady and her husband have picked that boy up most every Sunday as he does not have a car of his own. The lady died last Friday, but she made a difference in our lives.
