Let's see... which of us is the furthest from civilization? Your distance must be measured in the fastest travel minutes available to a town/city that has a real grocery store. I am not talking gas stations with snacks here!

I am 20 minutes by car to Drayton Valley. Who beats me? I am sure there are lots of you...

Sue

We're 5 minutes from the spawling community of Barriere, BC. We have a nice grocery store here and a Sears Outlet combined with the feed store. I'm voting that Heda Gobbler is the most remote on the forum.

Hmmm, could be. I am wondering about Silkiebantam and her ferry/trolley transport!

Maybe. I am 3 hours to Williams Lake on a partially paved highway. On icy nights it has taken me as long at 5 hours to drive home. But no ferry/trolley.

I editted my previous post to correct a user name. Silkiebantam keeps a whole store in her pantry, but the cable car and ferry does make her location isolated.

Shocked 3 hours, wow...

We’re 25 minutes by car to Central Butte, our nearest town with a grocery store.

Well we are about 6km to Beaverdell and it does have a little store/post office, but no gas station. Rock Creek is about 40-45 minutes south, it does have a gas station (2 actually) but not much else. Kelowna is just over 1 hour north of us. So not real remote, but remote enough that not to many people bother us. Very Happy

Laughing You guys had me laughing!

I don't think we're that remote. It's only about 10 - 15 min into town, plus a little trip across the river, by either ferry or cable car. It's just more of a pain in the butt then anything in the winter, when it's hard to get big items across.

City people think it's remote because there is a ferry/cable car schedual so you can't always leave whenever you want (There's breaks in the day when it's not running and it's closed down for the night at 11pm until 6:45 am) You can see panic setting in for them to get out of here before a break, because they may have to wait half an hour or an hour. lol

Nope, I'm not remote!

I was thinking Hedda Gobbler would be most remote.

I looked for a long time before buying here and decided it would feel more remote to be on an island with ferry service only once or twice a day and none in bad weather.

And even here the neighbours are sometimes too close!

We are in a similar situation. Drayton Valley is 20 minutes away, but you certainly can't buy everything you need there. It is a 1.5 hour drive to Edmonton.

West of Drayton is another story. There are thousands of acres of crown land, forestry roads and not much else until you hit the mountains. If I was planning a murder I would take the body deep into that area and it would never be found.

That is funny Sue, hubby always says the same thing about us. We are at the end of the road and only crown land beyond us. He always says that is why nobody gives us trouble as they would just disappear! Laughing "Who did you say? No haven't seen them for ages. Don't know what happened."

I work a two hour drive from the town I stay in (Hinton) Working at KM 189 on the ANC rd.
There are no rooms available in Fox Vegas and all camps are full. Get up at 4 am and get back to town about 830 PM. Today is day 24... Seen two wolves, lots of elk and almost hit a moose this morning. Remote enough?

Lol, but to answer your question about where we actually live, I live 5 minutes SW of Okotoks, so not very remote.
