How do you join chat?

I have tried a few times now to join the chat. Each time I click on the Join Chat at the bottom of the page, it brings up the chat page but tells me that I am disconnected. I would love to chat if someone can help me get there.

When you open up the chat page at the top right corner it says log in. It will log you in and you can then chat typing your messages at the bottom right corner.
