I cut up the last of my pumpkin crop this year and this one was a real beauty, I couldn't believe it when I weighed it and it was 50 lbs!
It was from some heritage seed I got last year from Alana Danko in Ontario, it's name is Rouges Vif D'Estampes (Maxima). It was introduced in France in the 1800s.

Not at all like your jack o lanterns, very compact and meaty with lovely orange flesh. It says on the package it could grow up to 18 lb! Must have been good growing conditons for it here last year...

I would be happy to share the seed so if anyone would like some from this big guy I could mail some to you if you send me a self addressed stamped envelope.
Lost of pumpkin baking coming up.... cheers

That's a nice looking pumpkin, I would love some seed. PM me your mailing address and I will send an envelope.
I miss the long season in BC where I could grow squash, I will have to use the greenhouse to ripen it here.
Thanks.
I could send you some small red tomato seeds (quid pro quo) if you like, they came from Chickeesmom and were absolutely delicious.

Ok that's three packages of seed going out to you guys...anyone else want some?
I know it's a little early to be thinking about the garden but I'd rather it was in your house instead of maybe getting lost in mine and this pumpkin is too nice not to share around!

By the way, price of stamps is going up in the New Year....to 61 cents... I just went and bought 2 rolls of 100 permanents at the 59 cent price, made me feel a little better about it, ha!

How many seeds are we all getting? I have a huge poop pile from my Daughter's paddocks that was moved to the back of the property last summer. It was about 10 feet tall by 10 or more feet wide. I think that is where I am going to set seed to soil!! It can grow and grow and grow, think that pile is deep enough that it won't dry out too much and I won't have to water too much, cause it is on non-irrigated land back there. I would have to haul water with the rhino. Which is another thing, cool, there is a 25 gallon tank it pulls, meant for boom spraying stuff, but I could pull 25 gallons of water and water it weekly, smiling that huge and wonderful smile now, good thoughts....Sorry ramblin' and off topic, again...oh yes, my bees are close to there too, so lots of pollination for the flowers, hopefully they would find the flowers before they found other things that held more interest and they forgot about them. Wait, there is the squash bee, that was on the coast, wonder if it is up here too. The male squash bee actually sleeps in the flowers of squash flowers, cool eh, you learned something new today about the squash bee, smiling that huge smile. Have beautiful days, CynthiaM.
