My Silkie roo Q-Tip is sick. He looks really sick. I dosed him with Eprinex last Wed night because I noticed lice on him and a few other birds. He was fine until a few days ago I noticed him looking slower than usual. Yesterday I noticed him all fluffed up and standing still. His back end all gooey with really runny poop - yellow/ green. I can also see lots of dead lice in his feathers. YUCK!!

Could I have overdosed him with the Eprinex? He has had Eprinex in the Spring with no reaction. It is so weird. I don't know what to do for him.

Any ideas? I don't want to lose him or for anymore birds to get sick Sad

I would put him on superbooster, keep him warm and watch the lice. Could be he lost a lot of blood to them, silkies seem more prone to that then other birds because of their small body size they become overwhelmed fast.
I dont think you overdosed him, just the effects of the lice that were on him, hopefuly now they are dead he will come out of it with lots of vitamins and care.

Thanks Hidden. All the lice seem to be dead. The Eprinex and DE worked well. I will dose him again soon to get any more that may hatch. His poop is really runny beige/green. It seems to more ooze than come out in one piece. Could he have dead worms from the Eprinex binding him up?

I have been having trouble with some of my chickens too, I am pretty new at this, I never realized so much stuff could go wrong with a chicken. My Cochin's seem to be alittle poopy and droopy on their butts. I hate to said it but I think if they die they die and I will start all over next spring with only a few chickens. Sad
