I’ve had a sign up in two different towns for the better part of a year, but finally perseverance has paid off. And I even got my asking price of $2.50 Very Happy Can’t wait to shake my egg money jar at hubby when he gets home, ha-ha!

I might be just a tad over excited about this… geek bounce

^I know right! Very Happy And IF she calls again, I might actually snag a real paying REPEAT customer, eeek! bounce I know I shouldn't count my eggs before they're sold, but if this keeps up my girls might be able to buy their own bag of layer ration. *gleeful cackle* cyclops

Thats so exciting for you! We put a sign up at the end of drive way in the spring and its been non stop action ever since. I had to purchase more layers to keep up with the demand and I just raised my prices to $4 a dozen so they pay for themselves! But people are willing to pay here. The hens are the best advertising as they free range the horse pasture by the front of our property!

Good luck and hope for continued sucess!

Congrats.... Its always fun when you sell your first eggs.

when I had hens, I ended up giving eggs away as testers and sold a few..... But ended up with No more eggs Sad That all my hens went into molting at the same time :S

Congrats! I have been selling eggs for a couple years. With selling eggs and birds my "chicken" money has bought me a front load whirlpool washer/dryer set and just last week a saddle Very Happy

Sadly I have decided to quit selling eggs for 3 reasons...increase in price of feed, increase in price of fuel and to cut down my work load.. I am getting worn out!

Way to go! Its a great feeling isn't it? Knowing that you are providing food for people in an ethically produced way and that your hobby can help pay for itself is awesome!

^ It sure is! Very Happy

That’s awesome fuzzylittlefriend. Did you just say $4 a dozen?! Wow, I could only dream. LoL

It is cheap really. Around here people grump about paying over $2 for a dozen farm eggs. Which is ironic considering the local grocery sells them for $2.79. But those eggs couldn't possibly come from a chicken's butt. Rolling Eyes Anyway, I’ve decided awhile back not to budge on my price because I believe my girls fresh eggs are well worth the extra cents.

And PrairieChick, those are some pretty impressive purchases made from chicken money. cheers I can definitely see selling eggs large scale becoming tiring though…
