Procrastinating, that is what I am doing. I am at the computer to do books and fix things up from yearend and I am on here!

What are you usually procrasinating doing when you are on here?

I hate to brag and really I should be ashamed but nobody and I mean nobody beats me at procrastinating. I have ADHD and one of the signs are never finishing most if not all things. I get distracted and go on to something else. I am over whelmed with all of the outside things to do and yet I am in here on the computer. I need a spanking.

I'm enjoying some vacation time from work this week! Yay! cheers So I just got back from a feed run and had great plans to do some weeding, clean a pen in the barn, finish some housework I started early this morning... But another storm just blew in, so right now I am having a cup of hot chocolate and enjoying some "me" time!

Hey Dan, ready for a little competition? Razz I suffer what I like to call “Ooh Shiny” syndrome. I’ll be getting ready to do something that really needs doing and BAM, a shiny new idea/distraction pops into my head (or so I think) and I’ll change gears and want, no NEED, to do that instead of the original thing. I’ll fiddle around with it for awhile, usually decide the idea/distraction wasn’t so shiny after all, and end up back at square one with NOTHING useful accomplished. That’s when I make myself a coffee (check), kick back (check), and call it a day. (checkmate!) jocolor

Hey, Black dove, I wish that I was that productive as the woman in the video but watching it does give me hope. lol!

Here is a short summary of my life, I was talented in art so started many pieces of art work from posters to oil painting to pencil work and sculptures. I have never finished one of them completely. I started to hook a 6 foot long X 4 foot 100% wool rug of an Elk in a forest with the sun reflecting off of the him and the side of a tree trunk and the clouds. I never finished it. The house that we live in if finished would have sold 2 years ago for about 2 million and I knew that the market was going down but yet I never finished it to make it possible to sell. Now if we are lucky we will get 1.5 or less for it. We have lived in the house for 18 years and still have no baseboards on the second floor but yet the baseboards were purchased and painted 18 years ago and are still stacked in the garage. Some doors have no handles, some openings have no doors. Our triple garage has too much junk in it to even park 1 car in it over the winter and I keep promising my wife I will clean it up before the snow fly's. 5 years ago I had a tax accountant do my personal and business tax and he said that he broke a record doing my tax's. He had never before done 16 years of tax's for anyone before all in a single year and I told him that I would not fall behind ever again and that was 5 years ago. To top it off each year that I do my personal tax's we get about $10,000 back in a refund because of the amount of money that we put in rrsp and donate to our church and yet I don't submit my return so the government has about $50,000 of our money and what even makes it worse is a couple of years ago I heard that the Government made a new rule that any return that is over 4 years old and requesting a refund will not get it . It will be forfeited. Once my wife gave me a t-shirt for fathers day which read..... The top 10 reasons why I procrastinate,

Does anybody think that they could hold a candle to me? What helps me to be so successful as the worlds worst procrastinator is the fact that I have a terrible memory. Oh By the way did I tell you that I am a procrastinator?

Tons to do and summer is almost half over.

1. Clean the barn, but it is too hot and nice outside.

2.Build the fence, but it is too rainy and or mosquitoey.

3. Build the dog stalls but I don't have the material and the barn is not clean.

4.Turn the hay but it is too wet.

5. Eat breakfast, but that means I have to leave the computer.

6. Pump the water out of the basement, but it will just come back again.

7. Sigh

I make lists and delegate work. Yesterday's said:
-Dismantle rabbit set-up (done)
-Take Rabbits to butcher (done)
-Shop (done)
-Work on art (done)
-Begin Chicken Tractors (NOT DONE)

So now I have one extra thing to add to today's list! I hate that!

Sue I make lists as well to make sure I get everything done, but every day my list of 6 things ( always my goal to get at least 6 things done) grows into lists of 8, then 10...I never seem to complete them all...Yesterday's list still has 2 outstanding items on it, so they will have to get added to today's list of items which I know wont get done because we need to leave home by noon...
I always say if I didnt have a computer, tv or kids maybe more work would be done, but then again I would find something else to procrastinate on. lol!

It helps if you lower your goals to the point where they are already achieved.

1. Get up.
2. feed animals.
3. Check forum.

I love it!! You guys make me feel so normal. Since we purchased this small acreage I can`t believe the number of things that we do and the larger number of things that we put on tomorrows list. I am beginning to believe that it goes hand in hand with being the stewards of poultry,dogs and all the other animals we love so much. Some days go by and I am just exhausted and it seems that the only thing that got completed was watering,feeding and cleaning everyone. But I have never ever been so happy anywhere else and would not want to be doing anything else! Very Happy

I completely agree with you Monika, and that is one thing that always gets completed on my lists no matter what, that the animals are all cared for properly. Some days like you that is the only thing I get completed but it is always nice to see that done.
I am happy to say only one thing from yesterday's list got put on today's list, "clean the kitchen" LOL. That seems to get moved from day to day to day.

I'm really really good at procrastinating. I was supposed to paint my house interior 5 years ago and it is still waiting for me, much more important things to do outside and inside. I have also been supposed to build chicken pens, chicken buildings, a barn, corrals, clothes line (which is finally done) weed my gardens, ride my horses so they are in shape to go to the mountains, set up an office, do books, and the list goes on and on and on and guess where I am..... Oh and I also need to buy a new accounting program to do my books ( should have done this 2 years ago and again, just have not gotten around to it. I did accomplish something this week, I ordered my new fridge which has taken me close to 3 years to order. Wonder how long it will take me to get my list done and get a new(er) van. The kids and I are also supposed to finish building saddle stands so I can finish painting my tack shed and put away my tack (which needs to be done before Sunday as I have to take my van to church and it is full of my tack!!) maybe I can just shift things around so I can lurk on here longer! LOL
