If I was ever going to have waterfowl it would be the lovely little call duck.... but I have too much on my plate as it is. Love the pictures of yours though.

Don't get me started.... I'm trying to reduce my livestock, not increase...
I have noticed that the Shetland geese have the same chubby cheeks and bright, kind eyed look. I must post photos, maybe we need a waterfowl photo thread!

Fuzzy....just because you have an extra pen does not mean you have to fill it! LOL Really I am kidding, you know me...... I'm an enabler. So when is our road trip to go get the cuties? Road trip.... with a stop at the Log Barn of course!
Fuzzy, Izzy is doing excellent with her Calls and has produced some really nice birds. These would be excellent breeder additions to any flock and are not large birds in size. I saw them at our show and am very impressed with her efforts.
Aw, thanks for the compliment It really does mean a lot to me as I'm completely addicted to these little bundles of laughter. I'm jumping into call ducks whole heartedly and am really excited about the future with them!

Oh you guys are bad! I am just thinking how they would all be related as I have one female thats off spring from a pair from heather and the other two pairs from cornel are a mix of heathers and?? I cant remember. I dont have my dan jerome pair anymore thats a road trip we need echo! OK Ok let me think about it. Heather I also "need" a runner duck if you had any kicking around And if we are going to go up there
Haha... It's so easy to want to fill those extra stalls, isn't it? I have 4 empty stalls at the moment because they're all in 2 big pens for the winter... One for the drakes and another for the hens. Sometimes I think it would be fun to go duck shopping, but I have to remember that there will be more to stash in the barn once hatching season comes. Still would be fun tho

Great will let the fellow know. By the way do you know any tricks to get the babies to hatch? Heather tried hatching some of our eggs and she said they didn't pip. Someone had told me one time that just before hatching should poke a hole in the top ???? We have a pair of her whites and then we have butterscotch and east indies.
You can, but you have to be very careful poking a hole for extra air. They are very hard to hatch and I'm still learning. I have white call ducks and East Indies but haven't been successful hatching the Indies yet.
