One chick that hatched a week ago has something wrong with its leg. At first it would get up, then sit down after a couple of steps. We were going to cull it but the next day it was getting around and eating and drinking. Its leg is still giving it problems. It has been keeping up with the mama and other five but is exhausted and not eating properly. It is half the size of the others now. I have picked it up to give it a rest every so often but it cheeps so much I end up giving it back to its mama. I have thought of bringing it in and putting it under a heat lamp and feeding it for the day and then back under the mom at night. If I let nature take its course it will probably die somehow in the next few days because it is getting weaker all the time. I can't bring myself to cull it because it seems to be fine so long as it is not trying to run like crazy. Do I interfere or not?
