The Carmel Button is one of the ten colours of Button quail I raise. Since all of my Buttons are in the group winter breeding pen right now their feathers are looking a bit rough. The first 4 pictures are of the Carmel pair and the Carmel male. The last two pictures are of a nice Pied button quail male I have.

The Pieds can be reversed in color. White with dark markings. Not as common but very striking when you get one.

Do you breed the Pied or do you just have the one?

I breed silver and dark pieds. Pieds can also come from breeding Tuxedos. I have a surplus of pieds males like the one in the picturee right now (about 5 extras). On sale for $5 each. Pieds can be used to breed with other colors and sometimes will produce pieds from them in the first generation. If not, breed them to their daugthers in the 2nd generations. That's how I produced my one and only ever "tri color". it was Si;lver/Dark/White. I lost it before it grew. going to try again this year.

Quail are so tiny and neat!
I've only ever seen them in real life a couple years ago.. Lived here my whole life and saw California quail for the first time a couple years ago. They were so pretty!!
We had a few in the area a couple years ago, but then they all disappeared Sad
There has been an abundance of ravens and eagles in the area in the last couple years so I think they were killed off... Too bad cause they were so neat to watch when we were out and about.
