Wow! Who would have thought there would be more? This could turn into quite a thread of beautiful wood pictures!

Wood, where would we be without wood, one of life's staples for sure, in so many ways. Those wood art pictures are astoundingly beautiful. I particularly liked the one with the woman standing beside the hump style one. Beautiful. Oh and also Prairie Dog, I love your signature, that is a beautiful piece of work too, but definitely not wood....smiling. Have beautiful days, CynthiaM.

Very creative. I'd be lucky if I could make it pile shaped.

The world's largest wood pile. This would almost do Uno for a winter.

Well I was curious about the thread due to the title. Smile

And now it appears I am missing out on a potential creative outlet, wood stacking like in the pics looks so much more fun than my plain old functional stacks. I have wood envy too. Sad

Everybody knows it isn't the size of the wood, but how you use it. Wink

Coopslave beat me to it. She's right. Size doesn't matter. It's how you swing the axe. Very Happy

I had always admired my Grandfather`s setup. He had a metal roof set on 6 posts. He`d pile wood between the posts, making walls of sorts and then fill it with wood. You could start taking from any side so you could always use the oldest wood first.

It was sort of like this, except just cedar posts set in the ground.

Excellent wood shed idea. Love the blue stained pine. Have certain rooms in my house done all in blue stain. I like the look.

Wow Magdelan thats beautiful!  We just have something like Fowlers photo but built mostly with scrap wood, it's not pretty Embarassed

I have fire envy because hubby was in the middle of moving fireplace insert downstairs when he got injured.   I growled because the dolly he'd borrowed from work had completely flat tires so he went to rent a dolly and left fireplace right at the top of stairs.  Then went downstairs mumbling about just doing something quick.  After he was injured I had to move that sucker a few feet into my dining room and unload it off the dolly now it sits in my dining room and dinner table moved into living room until he heels Sad

yeah, masterful  - I am impressed by the long thought he must have held to keep his plan in tact until complete.

roll on healing hand.  we have our wood cook stove going 24-7 and it will be for the duration of the winter.  what a blessing it is, lovely dry heat.  we took the pacific energy beast that is a mighty and very beautiful stove for a lounge out and it was pretty darned heavy (it's covered by plastic beside the layer pen in the barn, can't bare to let it go!).  Can't imagine shifting one of these things without a dolly.  What are you using for heat in the mean time?

I'm going to build a wood shed next year for extra stash. I like the one Fowler shows but we get snow from all sides so might just put some walls up, slatted. Or put tarps down the sides. Or make the roof really big so that there is a little extra protection from snow build up.
